Default getting old Cox .049 working

A friend gave me an old Cox .049, not sure what model but it does not have a fuel tank and the air intake is in the back. I made a fuel tank but I can't get the engine to suck fuel. If I put a little fuel in the air intake it runs fast for a few seconds then slow for a few then stops.
My fuel tank is a medicine bottle with a hole for the fuel line. It is at the same level as the .049. Do i need to vent the fuel tank? Any other ideas? Thanks; Don

Got it running! Vent and opened needle valve. Ran good. I had to take fuel line out to stop it. Don

While they are still running, you might as well get your money's worth and edge your lawn.
