Serious? Not likely. Fishing in the dark? Almost certain.
This one probably has no idea of it's real worth (or make apparantly) and has put an exhorbitant asking price for a base and will most likely sell it for a pittance of this. This way he will have a sort of bidding take place and will sell these for the most he has been offered, therfore gaining its highest selling price without an actual auction. All in all not a bad tactic if one has no clue to what he or she is trying to sell.

By the way it definitly looks like all Wen-Mac to me.

Hmmm ... I could use a couple of those Wen Mac bits. Maybe I should offer him 50c.

Paying $100 for that pile of junk isn't much different the paying $50 for a Brodak .061.......

I see two Wen Mac cylinder heads. The cylinder is from OK and probably the cranks well. Not enough detail visible to ID the pistons and rods. Probably OK. Can's say if the backplate is OK or Wen Mac since the are identical in style but not size. Oddly enough, I could actually use another Wen Mac prop driver and I'd love to have the muffs to experiment with making a DDD style diesel head.

I'd say 25¢

I'm thinking of listing a Ziploc bag of scrap balsa bits for $50. It might actually be a better deal than the engine parts.

I think he just doesn't know what he's got. Possibly picked up at swap shop or garage sale.

He also has a TD 049 (which looks like it has KK or ACE needle assembly on it) listed for $50 and and Cox 049 (looks like a TD 051 which also looks like it has a KK or ACE needle assembly on it) for $35 and a McCoy Red Head 19 for $100.00 so he is all over the place which leads to me to the conclusion he probably just doesn't know.

cheers, Graham

This gentleman seems to be operating on the old premise that someone is born with a cellophane wrapper over his head every minute....sooner or later he'll get a buyer, but it won't be yours truly.

Yeah, you're probably right, but we're just havin' some fun at his expense. Must be a slow day. But.. you gotta wonder what goes through someone's mind when they stare at a handful of scrap metal bits and think $100.

After reading some posts here, i retracted my offer, since the gross overpayment could have burnt a hole in my "deep pockets."

I see he has a sense of humour as well. New prices on the WenMac parts and McCoy 19 but now you really gotta want them.

cheers, Graham

The asking price as of today (29 Oct) is stated as $1000 usd. But you get free shipping, so it's not all bad.

Hey, I like this guy’s sense of humor. My only advice to him is that for this group, they need to be either easier or dirtier.
It reminds me of a commercial that I used to hear on WWL on the way to work some years ago. Seems that this cajun had invented some little cheap gizmo and was going to offer it for sale for $5000.00. His buddy says “At that price, I don’t think you’ll sell very many”
First guy answers, “I won’t need to!”.
