I'm actually tinkering with the idea of giving 3D a try. What is a good first setup? IE: servos, motor, and receiver, and kit. I was thinking of a yak, but I don't know. I'm interested in either a Yak or a shockflyer. I'm not a newbie to flying, just to 3D. I pretty much want to learn how to hover after I get the hang of it, so hovering capabilities are wanted.

Do you mean the U-Can-Do 3D or is that the planes actual name?

the last one that i had i cut the stickers up so it said can you do 3d it looked pretty cool, but anyway if you get into 3d this takes a fair bit of abuse

In the 12-16 oz size range, try the www.rcxplanes.com Illusion. They also have a YAK too. If you want something in the shock flyer size range try their Allure. They are both very durable (for depron). They can set you up with pretty much everything you need to get going.

Saw one fly at our club. Had a brushless/lipo setup. Did 3D well. I'm building one as soon as I can find some FanFoldFoam.

Go to www.stmodel.com and look for the YAK ... try to find who sells it in the US, this plane will hand allday with the stock motor. All you need is:

GWS Pico servos x3
GWS 480 ESC for lipoly
3s1P lipoly of about 1,250 mAh (10C)

Its a very cheap set up but the plane flies really well. Try it after seeing the videos:

I think the first 3D must be slow and easy to fly with it.
I recommend the Expo 3D by Thunder Tiger. It's a very good plane to start 3D. The kit includes a speed 370 motor. With this motor you can do all of the 3D tricks.
My setup:
- Expo 3D
- Jeti Jes020
- Himodel 900mAh 11,1V 8C lipo
I can do anything with this plane.

I was told that the TT 3D planes fly really well out of the box but the only complain is getting spares for the motor.
