LoL....there is NOTHING that could happen that could make some people happy or jump for joy about ANYTHING. SOMETHING bad is always riiight around the corner.
The fact is that the hobby has been around for 80 years, nothing drastic has changed, or will be changing in the hear future. Worrying, complaining, and thinking about the bad things that might happen has sadly become part of this hobby, perhaps a SIG could be set up just for that.
AMA members should stay involved and keep up to date on what's going on, but most importantly should go out and continue to fly and have fun.
The fact is that the hobby has been around for 80 years, nothing drastic has changed, or will be changing in the hear future. Worrying, complaining, and thinking about the bad things that might happen has sadly become part of this hobby, perhaps a SIG could be set up just for that.
AMA members should stay involved and keep up to date on what's going on, but most importantly should go out and continue to fly and have fun.

Part 107 will not apply to model aircraft. Model aircraft operators must continue to satisfy all the criteria specified in Section 336 of Public Law 112-95 (PDF) (which will now be codified in Part 101), including the stipulation they be operated only for hobby or recreational purposes.

This is actually good news, makes me happy; I almost feel like throwing down some money for servos and starting on my World Models Zero and Seagull Yak. I have plenty of gas engines, optical kill switches and receiver and ignition batteries, but alas I don't have enough of the upper mid range servos for all my unbuilt aircraft...

60 days isn't the problem time frame.
the time frame is when our elected folk get up off their collective butts and actually get around to writing and passing a FAA authorization bill.
hopefully it will not have any substantial changes to sec 336, however, we are talking about politicos here, anything is possible.

Absolutely completely agree. Clubs should use this as a jumping off point to either start or hopefully strengthen their ties to the community they are in. It builds a better understanding of what we do and are all about, and can also help recruiting efforts for new membership if that's something the club wants.

Commercial Aerial photo and video businesses will see a boom eventually... The one's who can adhere and make it through the stringent guidelines and testing will be seeing big bucks... cause they will be able to say they are officially licensed and passed FAA regulations to provide their services, while the cheaper guy isn't licensed and is operating against regulations

I have a recently completed BUSA Eindecker 90 and have not even taken it out of my building shop yet to fire up the engine or perform a maiden test flight. But, I have considered running my Warehouse Hobbies Off Shore boat. Mind you with NO worries or problems from any organizations.
