Default Lanier Stinger .60 for a second airplane?

I am considering a Stinger .60 for a second airplane....Any suggestions on this airplane? I have flown one for a couple of minutes and like the difference between it and a .40 trainer....Can it be flown slow and easy for landings? I am also considering a Super Sportster .60....I understand that the Stinger would be easier for a beginner as a second airplane...Thanks

Great second plane. Flys great! I wouldn't put the stars on because they tend to peel off. I used a OS 91 two stroke which is overkill, plus I needed to add weight in the tail. The guy at the hobbyshop talked it into me. Oh well, still a great plane. Have fun!

Thanks for the reply......good info...do you recommend the Stinger or a Super Sportster both .60? The Stinger seems to be the best choice for a 2nd plane but the SS has cleaner lines and can be made with a nose gear...Thanks

i would stick with the stinger. it is a better second plane plus it will get you on your way to flying a tail dragger. the sportser is nice, i had both, but as you second plane who cares about "cleaner lines." you want a plane that works for you and to have success. you have plenty of time to buy a plane with cleaner lines. but for now it's time to build more success on the sticks. hope this helps.

As to landing slow & easy, be warned that the Stinger will tip-stall if you try to float it in, or if you try to do aileron turns with the nose up at low speed. Keep the nose pointing below the horizon and use rudder for direction when you're setting up your landing approach. If you want to practice tip-stall recovery, give yourself plenty of altitude, nowhere close to the ground.
