Otter,
You got this thing ready in 3 days?
yeah, 3 days ? [X(][X(] would take me at least 6 weeks probably. That proofs that I am just to dang slow.

I also can't believe how fast he put this together. I've had the 2nd prototype since mid-Feburary, and it's STILL not flight-ready! Maybe this weekend if I get a couple good nights on it to button everything up.

Phew!
I thought it was just me for a sec. I know they are ARFs but Geesh! It takes me that long to go get a servo extension.

Exactly! I waited at least 3 weeks for DA to ship my engine. And in my defense, I did have to stop for awhile 'cause of the Toledo show. (Aeroworks needed it for display in their booth) After that, it was just all the little detail stuff...mounting tank, batts, switches, making sure everything was tight...the stuff that just seems to take forever.[:'(]

To put a arf together in 3 days is nothing. Depends how much time you put into it in that 3 days. I did my 33% sukhoi in less than a week, the biggest holdup was waiting for parts!

How did you get yours to balance , did you have to add weight ? Mine is tale heavy I moved all the battery pack as far forward as I could ,they are in the motor box and it still want set level. Was yous alike that?

Im running a bme 50 is that lighter than the brison ? mine tilts at about 10 to 12 degrees to the tail and that with all of the batts in the motor box ,will it hurt to have them there?

I just got back from a range check didn't see any glitching even though the motor was running seemed to work fine, still a little tail heavy,if perfect is level how much would it be safe to go back from there or is level as far back as you should be????????I want to fly this thing but don't want to kill it on the first flight.....Oh! I'm at 16 pounds now 1 pound over otters plane so if I could find some way to balance it without adding more weight would be better.

Thanks for you input...

when you say "tilts 10 degrees towards the tail", would that be the same as saying that when you lift it by the top wing tube, the main gear and tail wheel leave the floor at the same time?
If that's what it's doing, then I think it sounds about perfect! Fly it!

3ddave,

Mine hangs 10 degrees down or thereabouts as well. i.e when I pick it up all three gear leave the ground at once. I just got through building. How'd it fly with the CG at this point? Should I go for it?

I test flew mine today with the CG at about the same-- here is what I found. With 3D rates it reminded me of my Pizzaz. Very nice flying and very stable at lower rates and slower speeds: however I do have a concern about the CG or upthrust--or downthrust in this case. When I pulled a 45 upline and rolled inverted the plane climbed stright up in the inverted position--when I rolled upright it would dive a bit until I got back some speed. Stright and level flight was dead on perfect until I rolled inverted and then again it would start an outside loop at a good steep angle. Any ideas??????

that is what mine did the first flight .I added some up thrust to the engine and sovled the problem . Now it flys like a bipe should although it is still a touch tail heavy should be fine when I ad a spinner

Boy am I glad to hear that! How much did you add-- 1 or maybe 2 washers? I got 1/4 X 20 bolts holding the engine on and I think those washers are abour 1/8 inch thick. I also need to add the wheel pants which should also add some weight forward of the CG. To say this thing is nimble is an understatement.
