Default RE: Cellpro 4s Balancing Charger

2 questions here:[8D]

1) Is there a problem to charge TBM, 2 cells 7.4 volts li-ion pack with the new Cell pro charger and the pigtail assembled with standard JR connector (only black and red wires)? Note, there is no node wires for my li-ion pack

http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/LiIonBatteries.htm

2) How the charger will react if there is no node or balancer plug on my 3 cells ETEC 450mA lipo?

1) The Cellpro charger will not charge a pack unless it sees all the node voltages.

2) It will simply display an error message. No harm will result to either the charger or your pack.

Keith,

The Cellpro chargers are shipping this week. However, the demand of pre-ordering has been so great that the first production run is already spoken for and we have a second run in the works which will be shipping in another few weeks. Depending upon when you ordered it, it may or may not ship this week.

I'm not sure what you mean by, "what's up with that?" but the WRAM Show orders will be the first to ship at the end of April or about a week.

Please review the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4046743/tm.htm]FMA Forum Rules[/link] so we can keep this thread devoted to technical issues on the Cellpro charger. Thanks.

I think guys are starting to get frustrated with the delays in shipping. Perhaps FMA should have gotten more in stock before announcing this product?

The first Cellpro chargers will start shipping this Friday, April 28th. The orders will be processed in the order they were received. We have made more chargers than we have orders so they will all be filled in the next week or so.

Greg,

Does FMA offer an extension cord for the output, or would an extension mess up the voltage measurements?

Default RE: Cellpro 4s Balancing Charger

HE, HE, HE.

The Big Brown Truck dropped a package this morning.

My FMA Cellpro 4S charger was inside it. It was early enough for me to charge a couple of Cellpro 1500 mil 11.1V packs and go to CASA for a couple of flights.

To say that I am excited about the Cellpro 4S charger would be the understatement of the year. It is so nice to be able to plug the charger into the power supply, plug the battery pack into the Cellpro 4S and let it do its thing.

Nothing to worry about. No settings, no daisy chaining ancillary devices so the pack gets balanced, no nothing. Just plug and go. Love it already, it's the best $70 I have spent in my R/C life. Somehow the charged & balanced packs seemed to "feel" more powerful, like a fine tuned car engine. Photos below were taken during the charging process and are self explanatory except for number three which displays the simplicity of the charging station.

FMA has released a winner IMHO.

Keith,

We will be selling a new Cellpro 3' charging extension cable and a Cellpro "Y" adapter for charging in the plane without disconnecting the DPM very soon.

Qban,

Nice photos.

Qban,

Nice photos.
This thing is an absolute marvel. Love its operational simplicity and the large LCD display characters.

I had to photograph the process before posting about it so that they'd help me convey my impressions properly. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, in this case they speak volumes, especially number three (charging simplicity at its best) and numbers nine and ten tell the whole story of a properly balanced pack. IMHO, the Cellpro 4S charger is a winner.

Greg,

I noticed that there is a data port on the charger. Will that work with the serial adapter I have for my FS8??

Hi Greg,

any plans on coming out soon with a charger like this or the BalancePro 6S but able to charge more than one pack at a time?
Thanks.

Nelson
