Default Got my AMA card...

Now the thing I want to know is why don't they prorate the cost??? They charge you for a full year but it expires on December 31 of the same year. I think being that I missed being a member for 3 months then I should be prorated for those 3 months.

What if I wanted to join in Sept. That would really s&*k. They should either prorate the charges or ask for a renewal on the same date you joined.

Anyway, now that I got that over with I need to go to the webpage and see what I get for joining...

Actually they do prorate to a certain extent. There has been some discussion about this on the AMA forum.

They do pro rate it. You pay full price the first year, and get the discount the second. I don't know the amounts or where the breaks are. You can find those on the ama website I am sure.

That's what I did (joined last October). Not because of trying to get something for nothing. It just worked out to my advantage that I started in the hobby in October of last year.

I signed up my wife and did as you Paul. It took about a week..give or take. It depends a LOT on the volume of renewals and new applications when you apply. They may get it to you faster or slower depending.......it's hard to pinpoint a time frame......lownslo

I got mine in two weeks. But one neat thing you get that I did not read about, is some cool window cling AMA stickers for your car and what not. They are really sharp. When I was a member 15 years ago they did not have those. I am looking forward to getting them on my vehicles tomorrow, they look that good. Usually I detest stickers on my vehicles, but thats how good they look.
