Default GP PT-20 w/ o.s. 25la-enough power?

GP recomends a .15-.25...So i tryed it with a .15 i had but it took FOREVER to lift off the grass and flight was disapointing...So i im breaking in the new .25 now...Is this going to be enough for this 4 pound airplane?
thanks -

don't know what .25 you have, but my 3.5 pound combat plane has OS FX.25 with 10X6 Zinger prop.and it screams, some of the other guys have TT25 and OS LA .25's, they aren't to much behind on speed or power.I would be surprised if a .25 would not be fine, let us know when you fly it with the .25. Thanks, John.

It will pull your trainer around fine. It will not be a screamer but you don't need a screamer for a 20 size trainer. CB

My PT20 Struggled to get off the ground with an 0S25 I'm putting a K&B 40 in it now. Unless you have a hard surface for taking off. (ashphalt, or Concrete strip). Anyway will fly at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle for the first bit.

I flew my 20 size trainer on an os max 30 , never had a problem with it taking off from whatever , many times just a dirt field , plenty of power and fast in the air,

I think the new os 25 fx should do a good job on the plane ,

My GP PT-20 with 25LA had no problems taking off from grass. I think it is a great combo. I used 9x5 and 9x6 APC props.

Could I ask the age of these planes? Just out of interst. I bought mine approx 15 or more years ago and only recently got it in the air. Would the quality of the wood have changed? has the design changed much.

Thanks

My plane is a royal 20T approximately the same age as yours ,about 15 years old or so.
