Okay, I've recently purchased a Sig Somethin' Extra kit, and just about everything I need to build it. My question is where do I post the build thread? I know I want to do one, but I'm not sure where to put it.
I already have a questions thread started in the Kit Building forum: [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3254009/tm.htm]My First Kit[/link]

True, but you may find that there are some very experienced kit builders who can offer some great info that hang out in the Kit Building Forum, but not in the Beginners forum. So even though in your case either is appropriate, I would recommend the Kit Building forum

Thanks for all the recommendations, I'm leaning towards the Kit Building forum.
I think I'll make a build thread in the Kit Building forum, and when it's finished post a 'First Build!!!' thread in the Beginners forum.

I agree that the most advice will come from the kit building forum, but posting it here in the beginners forum has an advantage too. The recent [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=3266755]4-star 60 build thread by Mountaineerfan36[/link] had a huge following and I think it actually inspired a few new pilots to actually try a build themselves. Your posting a build thread of the Sig SE here could have the same effect too.
A lot of new pilots just think that a kit is too hard to try so they don't even consider it and they buy an ARF/RTF. But after seeing these build threads they see that it's not hard at all.
Just something else to consider.

Okay, now what do I do!?! You make a very good point RCKen.
How about a dual thread?
I'll have the build thread posted in Kit Building, and a thread talking about how it is for me as a beginner in Beginners. Do you guys think that would be helpful (both to me for getting advice, and to beginners for getting them interested in building)?

If you wanted to post here in the beginners forum you could always post a question in the kit builders forum if you need advice, and reference back to the thread in the beginners forum. Actually, I think that a lot of builders do read the beginners forum anyway (Me, Minnflyer, and Bruce88123 are just a few off of the top of my head).

I can work with that. I think I'll post my build thread in here now.
And if I have questions that don't get answered here, I'll make use of Kit building to get answers.
Anything to help bring more beginners into building. I'm looking forward to becoming a kit builder!

Kiswa...A few of us have been going back and forth regularly in the Kit Building forum under "Sig Somethin' Extra Kit". The original poster, Manny, is doing the SSE as his first kit. Others are just chiming in as they build with questions and I'm mixing up the questions a bit with my dual engine SSE build. So, as Ken suggested, starting a thread in the Beginnner forum is a great idea and you've always got Manny's thread if you aren't getting answers or just want to see what others are doing.

It's good for us not so new builders/pilots too... I really enjoy watching other people's build threads and the progress they make - especially the new builders. You never know when a really great idea may pop up that us more experienced modellers hadn't thought of before. (or forgotten over time)
