SIG 4* Antenna
OK...One more question for tonight. Can anyone share with me how to install the antenna in my 4*?? The instructions indicate to run the antenna out the bottom of the fuselage just behind the wing. Then it's unclear what to do from there. Should I string it along the bottom underneath the fuselage?? This is an AFR and everything is precovered so going through the fuselage may be difficult.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lamar

Generally, you can poke or drill a hole through the fuselage to get the antenna on the outside. Then you can secure it somewhere on the tail to keep it from dragging the ground and getting tangled up. I use a rubber band to loosely secure it to the rudder.

Which Four Star do you have? I have the Four Star .60 ARF, and I ran mine out the bottom of the fuse, along the bottom, and attached it at the rear, just in front of the tailwheel, with the Du-Bro antenna attachment kit. There should be a pre installed tube in the fuse if your's is the .60 size, but I absolutely could not get my antenna down through it. I came out of the fuse directly behind the wing. I have had no problems with this installation at all.

RE: SIG 4* Antenna
get a drinking straw or 2 run your antenna through it then glue the straw on the inside of the fuse. no antenna on the outside and still work great

I also have a 4*60 and there is a tube on the inside lower part of the fuse. I to had problems with running the antenna wire. I took a little wd40 and applied to the tube opening and this created enough lubrication to run the antenna.

Here's a link to the Dubro antenna keeper on Tower's site.

I have the 4*40 ARF. I have also run mine out of the bottom but never heard of the Du Bro kit. I will check into that.
Thanks

Mine is a 4*60 ARF, look at back bottom of fuse opening there is a tube. Find anything stiff .. push it though from back opening, here comes the tip of the day. CA just a drop on the tip of stiff thing !QUOT!aka music wire!QUOT! stick ant.. on end if lucky just ant.. insulation slip onto or over music wire. Wait or jap if cann't wait pull out music wire and remove ant for wire end. It's a great set up to keep ant out of the way and nice an straight for best reception.

RE: SIG 4* Antenna
On my 4*40 and Mid*40, I just drill a hole through the bottom of the fuselage below the tank area. I make it large enough to stick some fuel tubing through and glue it in. Then I run the antenna wire through the tubing, which protrudes down about 1" and secure the wire with a rubber band to a push pin, color doesn't matter, at the very rear of the fuselage. A drop of CA keeps the push pin from working out. The rubber band and the fuel tubing keep the wire tight up against the plane, but provide enough give to keep it from being too tight. I've never had one come loose in flight. Glen

On my 4* 60 I dropped a needle and thread down the antenna tube and stuck the needle under the insulation of the antenna and pulled it trough the tube. I tied a knot in the antenna on the end to keep it from going back in the tube.
On my other planes, I use the fuel tube as a guide and stress reliever for the antenna going through the fuselage top or bottom. I use a rubber band at the tail wheel. Have to change the rubber band every year.
You can use a button to thread the antenna wire through inside the fuselage to keep anything from jerking the antenna out of the reciever.
I use a cut of piece of servo arm to duplicate the Dubro antenna grip at the rear.
Enjoy,
Jim
