2012 RCPRO Club 40 National Championship Race
The 2012 RCPRO Club 40 National Championship Race will be held on October 13 and 14 at the HOTMAC Club field in Waco Texas.
Jim McGuinn, the NMPRA District 8 Vice President, will be the Contest Director for the event.
RCPRO will be the primary sponsor and other sponsors are already stepping up to the plate. Interested sponsors should contact Jim McGuinn, or Don Stegall.
This will be a 2 day race using the current RCPRO Club 40 (Advanced) Rules with only a minor engine clarification. Engines will be limited to .40 c.i. displacement and a $120 maximum street price. Racing will be on the 400 ft 2 pole course as specified by the AMA 540-B document and racing will begin from the starting line with assistants releasing the planes on the start flag.
Entry fees have not been set as of this time. Pre-registration will begin on 4/1/12.
Concessions will be available on both days during the middle of the day.
The HOTMAC field has electric hookups for 10 RV and campers, but no running water.
The web page for the event is at [link]http://www.rcpro.org/content/rcpro/club_40/championship/default.aspx[/link] and can be reached via [link=http://Club40Nats.com]Club40Nats.com[/link] or [link=http://C40Nats.com]C40Nats.com[/link]

Okay guys this is big news for the Club-40 guys all over the country! I know Jim and the Waco guys have stepped up to the plate here for this first Club-40 National event and it sure would be nice to see you fast guys in the South, the Midwest, the East Coast and from out West make the trip! The Waco Club has a first class facility for a big event and there are plenty of places to stay around the lake there and Waco! Lets try and make this 1st National event one to remember!

If you are planning on getting a site at the lake you better reserve a place now. I tried to go camping at spring break and all sites were full. I was lucky enough to get a site where the party left a few days early, but we still had to leave on Friday because of a previous reservation.

How many of you racers out there are going to try and make this race? I would love to race against you guys from the Midwest, South East and the Southern Sates! I read your threads from your events you have had in the past so I know there are some really good racers out there and it would be great to all get together for a big shoot out!!!

He probably wont ever come out to face the jason's again. I hear they put him into retirement. Motorcycles are just easier for him I guess, cuz he can ride away fast and not have to look them dang jason's in the face. lol.......but then again, we have a new racer with us named Tyler King. I think thats his last name. when skully found out the jason's and this new 15 yr old kid will be whooooopin him he couldnt handel it and quit.......lmao

If the friggin price of gas doesnt come down, I dont know about coming out that way. I went to the gas station this evening after work just to fill up my lawnmower gas can and spent $11.50 just for that!!
Dont get me wrong, I would love to come out to Texas and race with all of you Texans' and show y'all how "we do it" but it still too early for me to know yet.
Whats the price of gas out there? I paid $3.79 for a gallon of unleaded today . I also googled the milage and it said 680 miles from Birmingham to Waco and right at 11 hours worth of driving .

Hay John, don’t use gas prices to cop-out. Team up with two or three of your Club 40 buddies and share expenses. That way the cost should be affordable to come and race with the best Club 40 pilots in the whole USA. I think it would be a small price to pay for a chance to take home the bragging rights.

James Barr and I will be coming. I may not be a hot pilot, but James is.
I'm working on the pre-registration software. I've been very busy and the payment portion has taken me longer than I expected. But everything is moving forward.

Hey Don,
Don't you guys have flying starts like the giant scale racing?
We dont have flying starts down here. Hope that isnt a problem for you guys.

Pylon, I dont know about Texas but here in Bama all we've ever done is the flying starts (which gets the blood pumping and is one of my favorite parts of the race !) . Ive never done the rise off ground starts before so I would be a rookie on those as far as that goes.

That is what the Champ race will be. As it says on the [link]http://www.Club40Nats.com[/link] page.
Much easier to manage than flying starts and easier for pilots. Except for the occasional ground entanglement. There is enough space at HOTMAC that shouldn't be a problem unless the winds are unfavorable.
