How much Epoxy Resin to cover 1/6 P40
Hi Im currently building a Pica 1/6 Scale P40, I would like to fiberglass this model but have never had any experience at this.
Just wanted to know how much epoxy resin I will need to cover the complete model.
Cheers

Ya know the odd thing? I know another Robin Sallabanks that also flies RC (Helis) here in CHCH.
I've only just ordered some gear for my Bat so will have it going in the next couple of weeks, Hopefully.
As for my experience with fibreglassing, I worked for Cresta Composites for a while and have my own vacumn bagging setup. I've also glassed a few of my own aircraft amongst other things.

Small world isnt it! I havent been flying the Helis much for the last few months, having fun building this P40.
Probably got another month of building before I start fiberglassing.
Your help would be much appreciated as I have no experience with fiberglassing.
Your going to love flying the BAT, I fly mine every weekend out at the Christchurch Radio Fliers Club.

My bat has just been a case of having the cash to buy bits.
Lets move this over to the CS forums and swap details. Sounds like a good time to be thinking about fibreglassing as there may be a few things you need to do now to make things easier later.
Fibreglassing is easy to learn but it does help to have someone walk you through it. After all it is pretty much permanent.

Figure out the area that you are glassing, then that will tell you how much glass you need, then multiply that times the weight of the glass, add 30% to that total and you will be close on how much resin you need.
i.e. 6 sq yds. of 2 oz. cloth would weigh 12oz. times 130% = about 16 oz. of resin.
