JPEE,

Good thing you also had a gyro when you flipped into idle up or you would have to deal with a fast piro.

There is a guy at my club that has a twin EDF setup and that has gobs of power. He also must have some insane throws because it would backflip in place.

Sorry your weather isn't the best. It is nice to finally be able to go outside without a coat.

Nick
Nick, this guy was pretty dang good with his TX, he got that puppy all over the place, straight up, rolls and all of the stuff plane guys do. If I were out in the wide open like my secret BIG fly zone like where I just did the T-28 vid then fine I'd try that thing but I don't know I could respond to that thing t be honest.

I feel bad that I have all of this good weather annually compared to what you, Glenn all go through. when I hear guys from back there say: we have four seasons here! I say yes you do...COLD, RAIN, SNOW, FREEZING........LAMO

Now it is your turn for some good weather......GOOD FOR YOU!

Evan,

Cool that you sent your radio in on Friday...maybe early next week, or maybe late this week...

Most people's seem to be taking 6-8 days from what I have read...lol, if it takes longer, maybe you'll get a free AR6100 like my friend did!

How's the RC land vehicles doing?

Hey Glenn,

Got the Gyro mounted then had to run out. Got my new motor bearings installed too. I did find that main shaft was bent too from a small encounter with my hedge line LOL. Tonight I should have time to replace the main shaft, and install my carbon fiber blades, top and tail.. Rember we talked about my gyro wires were so long. Well I started taking them apart to cut them and thought NO......I am not going to do that for now. I'll see how she flies with all of the extra wire wrapped nicely and go from there.

Be back later, godda put up supper.

Evan,

Glad the car is doing well...

Yeah, it's pretty important to balance lipos...it can make a difference if the cell voltages are mismatched...

When you get the DX6i back, you gotta get us some videos of you flying the B400 soon!

Did anyone get to fly today? I got three flights in, but I was too tired to do anymore. It has taken me a couple of days to get used inverted flight again, but it is slowly coming back. I just love the way the 450 flips when using a 2400RPM headspeed. It responds like it has a higher headspeed and lighter paddles, but it isn't super responsive and easier to control. Then in a hover it acts like a lower headspeed and heavier paddles. It has taken a long time to get a good setup, but I won't go back to a flybar setup.

Evan,

The balancer also prevents a cell from going over 4.21V, which could lead to a fire.

Hey Nick,

No I did not fly either, just doing heli bench work. But Monday I got three 500 flights in and Tuesday I got 1 pack in the 400 but more testing at the Park than flying for sport or fun.

Glenn,

Is my good weather finally getting to you? Have fun with the B400 if you get to fly.

My weather doesn't look good for tomorrow, but I might have good weather on Friday.

Hey Glenn,

I just tried resetting the 401 gyro buy what "I think you guys" said to do. I took the gyro setting to #1 and roll it down below 50% and the servo locked in near center. It was not centered but I am between teeth so I am stuck there. Then I took and centered my tail fins and adjusted my tail rod so as to leave the blades at center and for the most part and have a 90 on the linkage arm. When spooled up and had put the gyro back to O setting the tail blades change to pull the heli tail to the right andall the heli wants to do is chase its tail. By adding sub trim until the blades are near centered again back on "O" setting then she will lift up and might need a click or two on the outside trim adjustment and flies...WF am doing wrong if anything? I thought this whole center the tail servo below 50 stuff was to make everyting better but she ain't working for me.
And thats the name datt tune!

JPEE,

It's late here, but I'll go over what I did real quick...so you can give it a try.

Set the sub trim and radio rudder trims at zero.

Get the servo arm at 90....use the sub trim to get the servo arm at 90 degrees if you need to.

Then, eyeball the slider arm, and adjust the pushrod linkage to as close to 90 degrees as you can by eye.

Put the gyro in rate mode by setting the gain at 45% or so.

Lift off into a hover, and see what you have.

Adjust the tail rudder pushrod one way or the other until you get it at neutral, or as close as you can, I just basically got it light on the skids to get it close, then went into a hover. This part may take some patience.

Now, when you have a neutral tail by adjusting the pushrod, you are ready to go, just put it back into heading hold by going over 50%...say start at about 65% and see what you have...

That is exactly like I did it...

Good luck!

Glenn

Heli,

I have no idea...lol

But, I have a frame that I could weigh for you when I get home.

Let me know.

JPEE,

Yeah, give that a shot, it worked like a charm for me. It was nice because I did mine at the shop, no wind to contend with, and a nice smooth floor, just kinda slid it around at first until I got the pushrod close, then did some hovering to do the final adjustments. I was surprised at how little adjustment made a difference, I could tell 1/2 turn in the pushrod on mine.

Good luck,

Glenn

Glenn,

I had the heli set pretty well BUT I have had this tail wag! I have been a adjusting the gyro on the heli aswell and TX adjustment, then it happend, no tail drive. I just poked my head into where the belt is and either the belt is bronken or I missed an old wire tie, I can tquit see what I am looking at but I ma on the bench now............more to come.

Hey Helistyle,

FYI,

I know you have the new scale now from Target, but you cannot beat Harbor Frieght for scales. Theay come as low $19.00 to $30.00 for larger ones for mailing packages. I have the 95364 for $19.00 Then look and the nice little ones too!

Hey Glenn, Nick?

I will be posting a short video of the 400 and its tail issue on YouTube. It is converting now. Meanwhile, as I take off you will see a jerk of the tail just at lift off and just as I start to come down it makes a BIG jerking wag. I have the GRYO set at 90 down from 100 on the heli. Then in the TX I have gone from 60-80 with no real change and gone throught 3 packs just hovering and adjusting in the back yard. What you will see in the video is gyro at 80 and the TX at 63.

As far as my tail going out earlier I had bumped the heli and knocked in the boom so the belt came loose, that is fixed of course. Perhaps when you get home you can give me your settings. When the video is done shortly I'll post it here............you know YT though.

JPEE,

What is set at 90 on the gyro? From what I remember there is no gain setting on the 401. If you are talking about the 401.

Nick
