Here's some pictures of what I was able to do with the frame wiring. Still need to finish the tail so for now am leaving the gyro and tail wires out. Go easy on me.

Mark

Very clean install. That is hard to do. Good job.

Hey guys,

Mark,

I hope you didn't really get any snow....we sure did up here, about 5 inches, just now tapering off...haven't even left the house, the roads are a mess, since the temp is 16 degrees, everything is frozen on contact...[X(]

Your wiring looks outstanding, and I know what it took to get it that way... Great job!

jreue,

I think Ivan did an excellent job on describing the charger numbers, operation, and Lipo theory, could not have done it better myself...

Nick,

Hope you get all your new goodies soon! How are the electronic projects going?

Glenn,

My servos shipped out this afternoon. I will probably get them Tuesday.

I put my glow starter on hold until it warms up. Then I stopped my current projects. I have been pretty busy with homework and work lately to even work on them. I need my big bread board for school now and I also have projects that I have to design for school.

Nick,

Sounds cool on the projects, the glow starter will probably work out alot better in warmer weather, for sure....

Wow, Grand RC ships on Saturdays?

Mark,

Oh yeah, I almost forgot....you are waaayyy too young yet to be gettin' that sensitive to the cold my friend!!

Hope you didn't really get any snow...looks like you got some rain though?

Hi all,

Guess what HobbyCity just came out with?? Look [link=http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10901&Product_Name=HK-450TT_PRO_3D_Torque-Tube_Helicopter_Kit_(Align_T-Rex_Compat.)]Here[/link].

Really unbelievable.

Glenn,
Nope, no snow here. Dodged the bullet and got rain instead. Sorry to hear about all the snow ya'll got up there. I have some friends just across the border in NC and they got some of the white death.

Thanks for the reassurance on the age thing - I think running around after a 1 year old makes you realize your age too! Amazing little guy is already walking - we'll definitely be off to the flying field as soon as it warms up some!!

Nick,
Glad to hear that your servo's will be coming in this week - are you sure your going to have time to work on your 600 with all the school work? Ah, those darn priorities!

You bet I'm getting anxious to getting my Pro airborne! Just a few more days working on it and it should be ready for an inside garage test hover. I had to make an order with HeliDirect because I can't find my pitch gauge and I don't have a ball link tool, but in the meantime I can work on the tail and radio settings.

jreue,
How's that MCX doing with the new swash? Zipping around the house like a ballistic little bee I bet. Any more news on the 250?

Work gives me a chance to step back from the build and come back a few days later refreshed and ready to go again. I really don't know how some people can build in a single night. [X(]

Ivan,
Thanks for the compliments! Do you put ski's on your heli to fly in the snow?

That TTHK-450 look sweet! Iwonder how it will fair. Ithink I would like to attempt a build of those one day. As far as the 350, not much has happened since the head build a few days ago. I may work on it tonight. I have a MIPThorp .9mm hex driver saved for me at my LHS. I will pick it up on Thursday. Will be so much better than that tiny L-Driver.

Guys,

I decided to get a quick flight in today with the 450, since I had a fully charged battery. I also went inverted for the first time this year. After the first flip everything came back to me. The 450 seems a lot more responsive now with the new battery and carbon blades. It should be a fun heli at the field this spring. I am also trying out the storage feature on my Hyperion charger for the first time. My servos for the 600 also came today, but I have to pick them up at the post office tomorrow.

Hey guys,

Nick,

Must have warmed up a bit over your way...good for you getting out and getting a flight in!

It's cool that everything came back for ya quickly, I have noticed that my time off doesn't seem to hurt much, in fact, I almost felt a bit better after a few weeks off...could just be my imagination.

Cool that you can pick up your servos tomorrow, I'm sure you are anxious to get them in and setup soon.

Nothing new over here, still cold, snow on the ground, just feels like winter!

Mark,

I took a peek at the HK 450 Pro clone, and that is even more amazing than the Tarot, considering the price difference...I see they are on backorder...

The more of these clones I see, I think whoever said they all must come off the same assembly line might just be right...between your Tarot, and the pics of the HK version, they sure do look like the "real thing" to me! Maybe not quite the Align quality, but considering the price difference, pretty amazing indeed...

Anyone use ball link pliers for the Blade 400? If so what kind/brand works? I picked up some earlier, but they were just a tad too big and did more worse than good.

Glenn,

It is 32 out, so it isn't that cold.

I won't be able to install my servos until Wednesday, since I have to work tomorrow. However, it shouldn't take that long, since I already have everything setup.

jreue,

I bought 2 sets of ball link pliers, and rarely use them. With the B400, I just pop them off and on with my fingers....the pliers are handy for larger helis, where they tend to fit better...not much use for my 450's and the Gaui...but they came in handy on the 500.

Nick,

Yeah, it's supposed to be in the mid 30's this week, it'll feel like spring compared to Saturday, when it was 15 degrees...[X(]

Hello Jreue,

I too went through that same problem when I started working on the Blade 400 size heli. I got like you the Ball Link pliers tha tin short SUCK on a small heli. So I bought these tweezer type and never looked back. Like Glenn said, they are great for 500-600 size helis.

jreue,
Did that come with the 250? I really couldn't make out the exposed wire from the picture but you may want to wrap it with some electrical tape.

Nick,
32 - are you kidding me?? Brrrrrr is all I can think of.

Good to hear you had a chance to fly your 450. I've been trying to keep things up with the sim so that way I won't be too rusty when I maiden my Pro.

Enjoy getting your 600 ready for the spring - guess the post office didn't drop the package at your door.

Glenn,
Snow, snow, and still more snow, huh? Did the groundhog see his shadow or is that still yet to come - the groundhog day thing that is? Really sorry to hear you guys keep getting pounded with one front after another. Maybe its time for you to think of moving south...

JPEE,
I also use those tweezer type pliers and they are great. Works great on my 450 and can almost use them on my CPP2.

Yea, it was one of the servos from the 250 combo. The packaging to the heli is really nice, but the servo wires are crammed underneth the plastic packaging, which is really sharp.

Ifinished with the cyclic servo install. I need to get to bed before I put my head through a wall. OMFG. Attempting to get the servo screws through the frame and grip onto the supplied microscopic 'plastic nuts' just about drove me to start drinking heavily. I'm not sure if its a horrible design, the fact that its ultra tiny, or a combination of both. I can't believe it took me 2.5 hours to screw in 6 screws. hah

See that tiny 'plastic nut'? FU PLASTICNUT!

I'm gonna have a glass of wine. Have a great night guys!

Mark,

Yeah the PO doesn't normally leave stuff at my door, but my last couple of packages they have put in my door. I can't imagine four servos and a gyro would require a box bigger than my mail box.

Worked a bit this morning.

Got my servo horns @ 90.
Elevator went right on with no sub-trim
Aileron and Pitch had around 20 subtrim each.
Got my reversing and swash mix all good to go.

Next up is main shaft, main gear and head installation.

Jreue,

It is starting to look like a heli now.

Guys,

I picked up my servos during my lunch break. I also got them all installed except the elevator servo, which I need to take the frame apart to install. I went to set them up, but my main receiver isn't working. It looks like my satellite is though. I might need to use my AR6100 for the time being.

I had more time to work on my 600 than I thought. I pretty much finished setting everything up with an AR6100. I just need to find a step down regulator, zip tie the wires, and figure out what is wrong with my AR6200.

Hey guys,

jreue,

Looks great, keep up the good work there.....yeah, that stuff is tiny, isn't it? I remember those plastic nuts from my 500 build, but they were alot bigger on that heli!

Mark,

I think we were overdue for a harsh winter here, and now we are getting it....3-6 inches more snow tonight, and a possible major storm again coming in on Friday....just in time to ruin yet another weekend....[sm=48_48.gif]

How's the 450 coming along?

Nick,

Cool on the progress with the new servos...

I am not at all surprised to hear about your issues with the AR6200, I have had nothing but trouble from the ones I have had...seems either the satellite or the main receiver doesn't want to act right at times, with no warning, they just stop working...but most of the time the RX still works...

I have been much happier with my AR6100's, for sure...seems like simpler is better!

Good luck getting it ironed out...

Glenn

Put the screw in from the inside of the frame and the nut on the outside. Your hex drive will fit through the hole in the opposite side of the frame.
