Bought this airplane thinking I would like it. I hate the AS3X. Constantly fighting with the gyro just makes it no fun. The first damage to this frail airframe occurred when I took it out of the package. I looked at it wrong, which resulted in a damaged wing (sarcasm). Also, I have crashed a few times (due to the AS3X trying to take control) and it's completely wrecked.

What is a good kit that I can put the guts in?

I would like to build a new airplane with the guts from the Xtra and just sell it off (or fly if I do like it). I did think about scratch building but I think with this light of equipment, there's not much room for error.

P.s.
I've heard you can't turn the AS3X off? Is this true? I thought I read that you hold the sticks in a certain position but maybe this was something else?
