Any tips on Humming bird
I am thinking about getting a Humming Bird for Christmas time using my bonus check from work. I am going to order the collective pitch Humming bird. Is there anything I need to know about this heli? I mean I have heli experience. I have a Raptor 30 nitro and have flown the Real flight sim for months and months and months. I want something very simple, but collective pitch. Like those better. Nothing as big and expensive as the new Trex 450. Though that is what I really would like to get, but I do want something as small as the Humming bird. Any tips one could give me would be appreciative. Thanks!

if you want assembled, go hummingbird or honeybee 3d, if you want a better kit that has better radio equipment that must be purchased seperatly, go trex.

RE: Any tips on Humming bird
I bought a hummingbird back in August this year. Was my first heli. One thing you should know is that the hummingbird comes with a tail motor that is garbage. This is a well known fact if you dig around on the internet. I went through 3 stock tail motors, at anywhere from 3-12 - 7 min. flights each. Finally got a dual tail motor mod. Which I am happy with and has been going strong for some time.
So at the least you'll need to upgrade the tail motor to dual motors, or direct drive motor. With that said after all that was done, I am happy with the end result now. I am flying all stock, except for tail mod, with the century 8 cell batt pak ("bird seed") . Once you get the radio mixing dialed in this bird handles really well, I think, but like I said this is my first heli....

RE: Any tips on Humming bird
I have a hummingbird elite FP and really like it.I have heard the elite CP one flies fairly well even outside.
I tried the dual motor setup and the DD setup. The DD is much better IMO. The dual motors added a lot of rear weight and worked good for quite a while(much better than the stock setup for sure)but eventually one of the motors gets weaker and this causes the other motor to work harder, then they both die. You have to order 2 motors now and go through all that micro soldering again. The DD motor is 10$ with 2 props. It comes with wires presoldered to it and they cover the wires they connect to the motor with liquid tape or something. Seems like a real quality motor. It is a 7.2 volts motor so works great with a 7.4 lipo. Mounting the DD motor was kind of a pain but I used my old dual motor mount and got it on fairly well. When your dual motor setup dies give the DD from www.AllERC a try. It is the best upgrade I have done. The DD motor/prop makes a real loud buzzing. Sounds like a huge real hummingbird flying around now I have only had it on for 5-10 runs but I have heard they last a long time. It never even gets warm and it was so cheap I bought 2 so I could have one for back up
So at the least you'll need to upgrade the tail motor to dual motors, or direct drive motor.

I had a hummingbird FP. no longer have it because someone stepped on it []
my personal opinion is that the FP version is better because of the lower headspeed
My tail motor outlived the helicopter, it lasted for at least 2 months - they only get wrecked by getting too hot, or running them on a pack with too high voltage.
Zoom 400 seems to be a good heli
good luck

RE: Any tips on Humming bird
Thanks you guys. You guys have given me awsome tips. I just want something small and nice to fly indoors or like in a small gym. I dont need anything as big as the Trex or the Zoom Shogun. I can't spend that right now. But I already have a big heli. Well its not huge, its only a 30 size raptor nitro, but can't fly it out side right now because of weather. This way with a humming bird collective pitch, I can fly indoors and still enjoy 3D flight. I can fly it around my office here, and also fly it at the gym at my Church to show it to some children there!!!

Flying around an office no problem
when i flew my hummingbird in a big hall the air con made it fly like a rollor coaster. FP heli will definately have an advantage there.
you could try flying your raptor in there [joke]
good luck

Yeah I think that will create some awsome stories that I will share when I fly my Humming bird in the office. It's a print shop. And I am going to fly this thing around. I will be careful not to nick people with it. That make cause some blood to fly. A friend of my has one of those cheap RC blimps and he was flying his here in the office, then some others took a stab at it. It was great! Then one of the guys flew the blimp hovering over one of the girls heads that sits at the front desk. It was great! Now its time for the heli.
