HOT ESC
Looking for some advice on my power setup. My ESC is getting too hot to hold, so I am concerned it is not matched properly. I have it in a KA Models A-6 Intruder. Here is what I am running:
Minifan 480
Jeti Advance 70 amp 3p
Lipo 3s 4350mah 11.1v
Mega 16/15/2
Any suggestion on getting the esc to run cooler? I cannot place it in the airstream at this point as the build is done and the esc needs to be in the nose for balance anyway. It runs for about 5 minutes on this setup using medium throttle, but as I said, the esc gets so hot that you can barely touch it without getting burned.
Suggestions appreciated. By the way, a very cool model!

RE: HOT ESC
Well. went ahead and tried a flight. I just limited it to 2:30 and kept it at half throttle most of the maiden. It was not too hot when it landed. Second flight was for 4:00 and it was hot to the touch, but not burning hot like before. Guess this esc just runs hot. Thanks for the feedback guys.

I don't know, I am no expert, but maybe you can go to your LHS and ask them what they think, the last thing you need is to burn your plane up in flight. Maybe your battery or motor are to powerful for it.

Believe it or not mid throttle and 3/4 throttle will make most speed controls run hot.
It sounds like you need a heat sink to take that heat away from your electronics in the speed control.
Those heat sinks work very well and you will notice them on your components inside your computer.
Give it a try and save that poor speed control.
