Hey guys, Blaine,

I'm trying to work out the details to see if I can make it.

My first EAC fly in, so I'm looking foward to it.

I'm thinking of hauling a trailer full of planes down. Is it worth it? Will there be time for me to fly?

Thanks,

Daniel Rathbun

We will be flying Friday/Sat/Sunday. You should have time to fly, if you come Friday you certainly will. It is a large field with a lot of width and depth. You should find plenty of time to fly. Generally after Mike Sauls, Blaine, Joey and Wes finish flying most people are a little slow to get in the air.

We have never had any problems with people getting air time in the past. We have been having these 3D fly ins for he past few years. It is a great club and the membership enjoys the event as much as the pilots.

If I'm reading the web site right, you guys are NOT flying at the Polo field like you did last year? Just making sure I don't go to the wrong field!

Joebob, that's correct. The event is being held at the Azalea City Modeling Club in Irvington AL. The direction's are on Blaine's website. If you have any questions, give me a call.251-751-0258. This is shaping up to be one heck of a 3-D event. Some of the best 3-D pilots will be be here. But, the event isn't just for the pro's. If your just starting out or in the middle somewhere, this is the event to attend. There will JR and Futaba reps to help with setups for your radio and lots of folks to help with plane setups as well. If you've been trying to nail that new maneuver, there will be lots of guys here to help. Blaine and others have some great raffle prizes that a whole list of sponsors have donated. Also, there will be a one hour either flight instruction, or sight seeing flight on a 2002 Piper Archer (full size-LOL) given away.
Hope to see you guys there, Wes

Hey Daniel, I promise you it's worth the drive. You will have more fun at this fly in then any you've been too. There is plenty of open flying and you can 3D all you want. We have a ton of great items to raffle off and you never know when a full scale aerobatic plane my do a little show. We have great food, music, t-shirts and flying. How can you beat that?

Generally 10 o'clock is pretty good. The sun rises in the corner of the flight line so one end is tough until then. Though... We were out there at 5:00 am until 9 am this morning doing a news special. That is just too dang early for me! The local station did live spots this morning and will be doing a news interest story for the weekend morning broadcast. It will air in 2 weeks or so. They did a great job covering the hobby, from building, helicopters and flying. They are suppose to be sending a crew out Saturday to get some more footage.

It was an interesting morning...

Some folks are coming in Thursday to make several days of great flying!

See you guys soon.

One more item... The newscaster is also the previous weather man... He said the weather should be spectacular! Weather.com agrees!

The fly in is over and all I can say is it was awesome!
If you didn't make it you missed a great show. I want to thank the guys
at Azalea RC Club for hosting the EAC this past weekend and also a big
thanks to Wes Batson and Marie Thomas for all their hard work for this event.
We had a little over 30 pilots and several hundred spectators present for
what will go down as the best 3D event to date. Pilots started
arriving on Thursday and we ended the day on Sunday around noon.
Friday was full of 3D flying all day and we topped off a great day
of flying with a chartered bus ride to one of the best seafood
restaurants in town. Saturday was filled with even more great flying
and we topped off the evening with a full eclipse of the moon, a
pizza party at the field, some night flying and a video montage with
highlights from some of our 3D fly in's. I'd like to thank all the
pilots who came and you can expect to see more of these type fly
in's next year. I have already started planning the 2004 Extreme
Aerobatic Club Schedule. I also want to thank all the sponsors that made all of our events this year possible. If it weren't for them these events would not happen.
Carden, Wing bags by Carloine, Desert Aircraft, Cactus Aviation, Aeroworks, Amsoil,
Tru-Turn, Great Planes, Hobbico, Futaba, JR, Horizon Hobbies, SWB, Sure-Links, J&M Model Craftsman & Monokote
Thanks
Blaine

I thought it was trerrible! They wouldn't call my name on the raffle for the Funtana! Seriously, it was a great day Saturday. The weather couldn't have been better, and the flying was spectacular. Great show, guys. Already looking forward to next year!

What a weekend! Blaine, you pretty much summed up the entire event. I would like to thank everyone who made the trip to be part of the Mobile EAC fly in. You guys are the greatest! From Thursday to Sunday morning, it was non stop action. From the opening banner tow welcoming all the pilots and spectators, to Blaine formation flying with his 40% Edge and Charlie the R/C pilot that was dropped from Scotty's Rascal and flown by Wayne Boudreaux. I saw some of the best 3-D flying that I've ever seen. I kept grabbing people and saying, DID YOU SEE THAT!
I could go on and on. but I'll close with my special thanks to Marie Thomas(3-D girl), who tirelessly made so much of this event one I'll never forget.
This one time at 3-D camp....
Wes

Ditto on thanking Marie!!! She gave a lot of her time and effort to help make this thing go as smooth as it did. And all of that on "her" Birthday too!

For any of the Azalea Members that come to the post - THANKS to everyone of you! You guys made this a friendly and warm event for both participants and spectators. It is a fantastic club that truly understands the purpose of the hobby! Great people enjoying each others addiction to flying!

Many Thanks! I know everyone's last statement as they prepared to go home was "I can't wait until the next one, this was great!" That is due to all of the behind the scene efforts.

Bob Bean
