Default mvvs getting nasty

Decided to check my mvvs 40 today , getting ready for plane , has the davis diesel head
10x6 wood zinger turned 10400 , decided to put the glow head back on for a few more tanks
then switch back (big mistake) engine would not start awful kickbacks ( it does have 3 gaskets
on head) spitting back fuel out top of carb came back so hard on chicken stick it broke the prop
changed carbs new o ring no air leaks, went back to diesel head same problem ideas
This did this with compression backed way out too any ideas??????

I know this sounds elementary, but to be honest, it sounds as if its flooded. Did you turn it upside down and drain the crank?

Anthony,

I tend to agree with Max.

MVVS engines with the glow head tend to kick back, or to start back-ward, ONLY if they are severely flooded.
If dieselized with A DDD head, you can get a hydraulic lock that will prevent the engine from being turned over.

But after changing to the glow head and emptying all the kerosene/Castor (the ether would have already evaporated), it should start in a jiffy, after one turn of prime and two-three flips.

Ready for the blond joke: Did you hear about the blond that flooded their MVVS, (I was never blond but I did it) I pulled the engine off the bench after the post and turned it upside down
front down out came oil (lots of oil and glow fuel) Pulled back cover to check rod (ok) and emptied more your diagnosis Dar and Max 110% correct,,,,(ok this was really a test to see
how sharp you guys are)( I need some excuse for this stunt) thanks will try dry engine tomorrow

Some of the early diesels had a drain plug on the bottom of the crankcase so you drain them if flooded. maybe you should install one on your MVVS.

....Careful, Anthony.
This could result in a broken crankshaft and a bent con-rod.

Broken props are not a problem in comparison...
