Default Scratchbuilts

Scratchbuild ED Baby and scratchbuild Top Flite Rascal. Since I built and ran the little ED I wanted to fly something with it. So, I did a little poking on the web and found the Rascak 27 patterns and instruction sheet. I had one f these in the 50s and flew it in the back yard on calm nights around in lazy circles. I'm hoping to do the same with this one.

The rubber model is a Black Bullet.

That's great, now the 4 stroke is done I'm going to build something like that. Any suggestion's on a easy to build motor? around 09 or 10 sized. Brian

Hi Brian..

I has maked own modelengines. It is not very difficult, but you must have knowledge how to cast crankcase in aluminium and lap the piston and cylinder.

I recommending you to visit Ron's Model Engineering and Model IC Engines Index in webside:

http://archive.dstc.edu.au/BDU/staff/ron/

And how to casting the aluminium parts etc..: http://www.backyardmetalcasting.com/index.html

Hi Brian,

The sites Jens give are great sources and Roger Schroder does nice casting work. THere is also Andrew Coholic who sell on Ebay but may sell directly. He's a member of RCU and you can contact him by private message or email.

This is great! You guy's are true craftsmen. Those site's were some great material to read for a beginner, I've seen AJ's casting's and will get with him as soon as I figure out what size engine to build. That radial would be a prize!!!!!!! but out of my league right now. Watching you guy's really help's me get inspired to build my own like the vivell 09 .

Hey guys, I just returned from the Toledo model expo in Ohio today. Yesterday I met up again with Randy and saw his diesels. WOW! They are the nicest engines I have EVER seen.... sweet! Pics dont do them justice. The ED Baby was especially nice as I know how hard small engines are to do.

I do sell castings direct, I run an ad in both the MECA swapsheet and also the Engine Collector's Journal. Contact me privately for my list though if interested.
