Thanks George.</p>

I might give it another go - not to late to be the "first kid on my block to get his original 1948 Deezil running"</p>

I have just bought a collection of deisel engines from a lovely old chap retiring from the hobby.
One is a "Deezil" engine.
I'm trying to work out which sort it is. I think it's a George Burford one.
If my photo has loaded up correctly it should be there for you.
I also bought an "Outlaw" plane which it had been fitted to.
Hope any body can enlighted me!

judging by the fuel tank - it appears a Gordon Burford example.

Confirm wether the threads (Needle Valve) are metric or other

Also is the forward section of the crank have a flat on it like a D in section?

Hi WFC- Your pics are dead ringers for my Burford Deezil. Mine has D cross-section crank ahead of the crank case with thin steel knurled prop driver having a matching D hole. This follows the original DEEZIL design. Later Burford DEEZILs had thicker prop drivers, presumably retained by a collet. Yours lacks its prop washer.

If your engine has excellent compression and is silky smooth as you turn it over, that is another Burford characteristic!

Regards. -Gary

I haven't even taken the prop off yet, but I'm now sure it's the GB version.
I have it running now.
Take a look at;

Had a go at flying it free flight in The Ben Buckle Outlaw on Sunday. Far too windy and it crashed breaking a wing. From now on it's going to be radio assist!

Cheer everyone!

I was at the Toledo, Ohio Hobby show today and Gao Guo Jun the CS general manager was there and there were probably 8 different styles of small diesel replicas on display. The workmanship looked good.

Did they have any examples of the inline twin?
