Default EP YAK 55 3D ARF

Bought a Yak 55.Hobby guy said the brushed motor it comes with is not very good but I should upgraded to the E-FLITE 370? He didn't have the speed controller ESC for the stock motor so I also had to buy that for the brushless motor. Is the brushed motor of any use for a beginner? I would still need a speed controller for it. What difference is there between the two motors. Did he beat me or is that the truth. The original motor is a 280 sized motor. The speed controller needed is the 20amp brushed esc (gpmp2020) for brushed motor? Thanks Ron

Default RE: EP YAK 55 3D ARF

I have one to put together and intend to put a brushless motor on mine.
After talking with someone who started with the brushed motor and went with the
brushless I was convinced to do the same when I build. I happen to a have a Himax
2808-1160 which may be to fast a wind based on some other input I read in this review.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=345428 check out the review and
associated thread. Your LHS guy wasn't necessarily trying to take you for a ride by trying to get
you an optimized motor combination imho.
