What do you use to attach Tygon to the brass fuel tank tubing ? Are fuel barbs benifical ? And after the barb, is a wire wrap necessary ?

Make a copper wire ring the same as the OD of the brass tubing. Solder that on to the brass tubing. Install fuel line and then a tie wrap on the fuel line between the soldered ring and the tank stopper. The ring forms a barb.
Happy hobbydays to all and to all a good flight.

I use 1/8" compression ferrules from the hardware store as "fuel barbs". They work great and are cheap. I consider wire wrapping the tubing a necessity. It may seem like the tube is pretty tight, but many tubings swell after being exposed to gas. Nothing like a tiny air leak in a line to make the carb stop pumping fuel, and drive you crazy trying to find out why....

Instead of a tie wrap or wire on the outside of the tubing, try using a small ring of tygon as a fuel line clamp. (sort of like an o'ring on the outside of the tygon). This gives a very even clamping force and I have used it many times without any sort of barb.
Instead of barbs or wire rings used as barbs. Try holding the metal tubing vertically, put a solder iron tip in the end of the tubing at the bottom and run a bead of solder on the outside of the tube. It will run down to the bottom of the tube and make a pretty good "barb". (I only recently learnt of this method and have been using it on the coupe of builds I have at the moment - it is a great method).

Steve, your Tygon ''O'' ring idea sounds neat, but if used inside the tank, filled with gas, won't it swell and loosen ?

Though this is probably not the only way to do it, it seems like a pretty clean/safe way in my opinion. Remember, planes cost money!

I used the extra tygon ring now for years. No need for barbs. Inside or outside the tank it will stay put and be guaranteed leak free. Yes, on old assemblies, you have to cut them to get the fuel line off.
