Default DLE 20 no compression

Hi all I just rebuilt a DLE 20 with new piston, ring and cylinder and it has almost zero compression, I used lots of oil during assembly the ring is in the right orientation , I tried starting it and nothing, it won't even burn a prime. I did something wrong but what?

If you had much in the way of difficulty sliding the piston back into the cylinder on reassembly, the ring was likely broken in the process. It's absolutely critical that the opening in the ring be centered on the locating pin located within the ring land during that process.

There's also a chance you have something going on with your reed valves or the plate that holds them. If there is anything going on there, compression will/can be really wimpy.

I'd pull it back down looking for errors.....

+1 to what Al said above. If you are using the stock ring, I've found some of them take considerable time to break into the cylinder. I usually use a BaaL / Bowman ring as they seal very quickly compared to the stock ones. Another thing to look at is the fit of the ring on the piston. Does it fit flat and free in the piston ring groove? I've seen guys bend these rings during installation and then they never will seal.

Thank you, it's running now, don't know what it was, I guess the ring just needed to seat, onward and upward, literally.
