I'm mulling over a Fuji 50 SA for $300.00 vs. a new DA-50 for quite a bit more.
This is for a GP Christen Eagle.
Is the Fuji 50 SA (older carb version), but otherwise brand new, too good a deal to pass up?
Thanks for the advice.
Regards,
Lee Snover

Do you need the weight up front? Are you looking for unlimited power or sport power?
The all up weight difference is around 1.5lb. I believe, with the Fugi being the heavyweight and also down on power comparatively...
Another consideration is the DA's rear carb, but this is not a concern in most cases.

Just posted a response o the SA version of this engine on another thread. You can read it if you like.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Fuji..._654647/tm.htm
In short, the newer SB model has improvements to make it easier to start. I had the SA model and while the engine did run smooth and well, it was a bugger for me to flip start. Might want to ask the person selling this engine what he experienced when flip starting. Not everyone had the same problems I did with this, so it could have just been me. I had to get a Sullivan starter with two 12 volt batteries. I have 200.00 tied up in the starter set-up. Not bad because I now have the starter when I need it. I also have a DA 50 in a second model of the Pitts where I had the Fuji 50 SA. The Fuji is heavier, but thats ok if you need the weight up front as mglavin said. This engine flew my Pitts very well, but not as strong as the DA. It all depends on what kind of flying you want to do and how good you are. Either engine would be fine for my flying style. I like scale aerobatics and a more scale type flying general. All depends on what you want to do and your budget.
