I am in the process of finishing a GP Christan Eagle and I went with a DA 50 for power. I have had BME, ZDZ, Quadra, and Sachs gas engines and all have a ton of compression when turned over by hand but the DA has very little.... Is this normal for a DA????

I'm told it is. I have a DA100 that has maybe 10 gallons thru it and it
has little compression compared to other engines. I have some old Sachs
engines with hundreds of hours that you can hardly turn over by just grabbing
the hub. I called DA and their answer was that they used low drag rings
that really didn't build compression unless they were running. My engine
starts beautifully and has as much power as the rest of them so I have a
tendancy to believe them. My son races 2 stroke motorcycles and they
have so little standing compression you wonder how they even start.
Hopefully a few others will weigh in on this thread and we'll get a broader
sample.

I have worked with all three of DA's engine they all feel the same way . all you have to do is fly that 50 and you will not worry about that again . DA engines hands down #1. my 150 will pull a 52 lb aircraft out of a hover vertically. and it feels the same as the 50 . dont worry man be happy.
