I have a Zenoah G26, and am contemplating the next kit. What is a good sport airplane for an engine this size?
I have a G23 on a 1/4-scale Taylorcraft, which I love. I was looking for something more sporty like a Lanier Stinger. I'm at a loss for other airplanes that would make a good combo with this engine.
Thanks!

The Funtana is a good choice for the G26 engine, which if converted to electronic ignition like rcign does, is even better.
Basically any sport model of 1,000 sq. ins. of wing area and weighing between 10 - 12 lbs would be a good choice.

Thanks! Also, how do you think the new Great Planes Super Chipmunk ARF would do? I read a review that said it needed nose weight, so it may be a good candidate?

Just today, I got to fly a friends new Monster Pitts from Great Planes equiped with a G26 and i have to say that it is a perfect match. It was only about the 6th flight on a new engine. Just after my first take off, the engine quit and i was surprised at how well it glided. I was able to make a good dead stick. I richened it up a little and the next flight went without a hitch.

Jerry's Big Boy - it's what an Ultrastick 120 would be if they ever got it 100% right. In the photo's you can see the huge wing area! It's now ARF'd, but mine is kit built with a G23 converted to C&H ignition and rear aluminum mounting plate removed. Engine all up dry weight is 10.75 lbs. It hovers nicely on a G23 (9000 rpm on 17x6 APC) and is just a fun, forgiving, highly aerobatic sport plane. My favorite in a fleet of 20 planes. It'd be crazy on a G26.

GeeBeeJim,
That's a really nice looking model, it's a pity the use of the stock muffler caused such a monster cut out in the cowl. Sure hope it flies as good as it looks.

Captinjohn, This Flybaby has an 86" wing and weighs in at 14 lbs. Power is a G26 turning a 17/6 prop. Flys like a dream, will do anything you ask of it, beautiful outside loops.

GeeBeeJim,
I do hope you took no offence to my comments about the muffler you used on your model, as your response might be interpereted to suggest. It was never my intention to, and apologise if I touched a nerve.

Nice Chipmunk. Hands down that's the winner if I can find a kit. Dynaflight discontinued it, but it's exactly the one I'd like to build. That's my kind of aerobatics--slower and graceful.
Thanks!

I do not know what kit this was....but this Fly Baby out flew many other planes in its day!!! It was flown by Howard Mottin(spelling) near South Bend Indiana. Cliff Bennits field.
