Default G-62 needs a home

I have a new G-62 and would like any and all ideas as to what airplane to build for this engine. Bought it without thinking about what to put it in.

A Lanier Stinger makes a wonderful home for a G-62. Easy to build and it flies great.

My vote would be a Great Planes Giant Aeromaster. Straight up as far as you want to go. Highly aerobatic. One of the most fun combos that I've ever had.

I've been flying a Lanier Laser 3rd scale ARF all summer with a G62 and it performs great for normal aerobatics. It has super vertical and is very solid. The Laser ARF is down to about $550 through Tower and the quality is very good.

I second the Giant Stinger. I got to fly one the other day and it was a delight, no bad habits. Hovers at 1/2 - 2/3 power. Fly it lazy or wild.

I have a G62 in a very overweight Stinger on floats and it flys very well. I am also putting one in a 1/3 scale Lanier Laser. I have seen them do a great job in the Balsa USA 1/3 scale Cub. What a workhourse. I have one on C&H ignition and one one Mag.

How does the Lanier 1/3 Laser balance with the G62? I've thinking about just such a combo. What are your all-up weights?

Default G62

Mine flies a 40 lb scratch built Noorduyn Norseman seaplane off Peck's Lake, near Sedona, AZ, with a 24-8 Zinger prop..
Flies fine....
The G62 is the only engine allowed in the USRA Giant Scale AT6 class races..
The 25 lb AT6 planes are flying 130+ mph with these STOCK engines.....

I have five G-62's in the following 1/3 scale airplanes, and they are all excellent performers:

1. J-3 Cub - 12 ft span - 24 x 8 Zinger prop
2. J4-E Cub - 12 ft. span - 23 x 10 Mejlyck prop
3. Aeronca Sedan - 12 ft. span - 24 x 8 Zinger prop
4. Ercoupe - 10 ft. span - 22 x 10 Mejlyck prop
5. Bristol Scout Biplane - 8 ft. span - 24 x 8 prop

Default G62

To volfly: The laser is not finished to the point I can tell where it will balance, no radio of batts. yet.

To rcign: re. the Norsman, acording to an old bush pilot I know the Nosreman was so slow the replaced the airspeed indicator with a clock, and even considered a hourglass.

Seriously I am a big bushplane fan, as a youngster got lots of rides in a Beaver which was almost new.

Yup, not the fastest but the G62 will be replaced by a Zenoah 445 twin..should be good for another 20 mph.....
I was told they loaded the plane until the floats were almost submerged, then bounced it into the air.. !!!

Bill,
Were you the one asking about details of the Lanier 1/3 ARF Laser?
Someone tried to get details and when I replied, the site was down and I lost the address. If it was you, let me know because I have some suggestions. I have about 50 flights on mine and it flies great but needs strengthening in the fuse at the landing gear area etc.

If you don't mind ARF's, (and I don't), the Kangke Laser 2000 is a great combo with the G-62............. [8D]

You might check out www.wildharerc.com they have a 1/4 scale Edge that is designed for that engine.
