Hi rcacro, you mentioned changing the reed block for another flyer on the TOC-53 recently. Did you just turn it upside down or install a replacement block? I recently bought one of these and was wondering if anyone has found a source of replacement parts or preferably a pyramid reed valve. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rick
I just rotated the existing reed block 180 degrees. As received, the hole in the reed block did not match the one in the carb and as a result the fuel pump was not working. The engine would run but was too lean at WOT.
After rotating the reed block the engine ran very well. I'm impressed with it's performance. I'm not sure that a pyramid reed would improve perrformance that much.

RE: NEED HELP ON THE 3MM TOC 53
Thanks John. This is my first gas rc engine and I know I should leave it alone, but I can't help but want to modify everything mechanical in my life whether it needs it or not. Bad habit developed from owning a (previously) underpowered italian motorcycle. Looking forward to getting this thing running this weekend.

Relocates the needles to a position more difficult to work with but at times eliminates a "burbal" at some throttle positions in some attitudes for some engines. If your engine performs the way you want it to your engine would not benefit from the change.

In some models, rotating the carb makes it easier to hook up the linkage to to the the choke and throttle arms. Also in some cowled in installations makes it possible to access the needles from the bottom which eliminates the need to remove the cowl or drill holes in the top of the cowl to make adjustments.
