I agree, but the NX can be sometimes very difficult to find in the smaller dia. while the Xoar is still much better than most of the others anyway.

Finally got the anticipated visit from the Man in Brown, bearing goodies.

Just got the box open and sized up a couple of things. As unanimously noted before, the quality looks excellent and the mufflers look much better than most, which have welds that look like poorly squeezed toothpaste. These are neat and even polished. The Chinese are really getting their stuff together.

Great news, the prop bolt pattern matches DA/DL50, which is good because I didn't get a drill jig with mine like DAddySam, but I have a DA jig so no biggie.

Will fit extremely easily inside the Pitts cowl.

Will, I got the 50cc Twin, and the first impression is it's a gem!

I knew it was coming today (hoping it would arrive earlier, but it didn't). However, I went ahead and removed the other engine and started prepping the firewall since I had the engine mount template. Going to have to move the throttle linkage a bit, and for the first time I might install a choke servo because I can see it's going to be a bit difficult running a choke rod to the front of the cowl. Maybe have a choke rod on the side... oh well, no rush to decide that one.

Well, I did buy two engines from Henry, and of course the threat to crash his New Years' date might have made some kind of difference[8D]

Hey, I'm just so relieved it fits the other props and Tru-Turn backplates that it really doesn't matter.

I turned the carb 90 degrees and it looks as if the throttle linkage will work without major modification. And I think I can figure out a way to route the choke rod to the front. I hate to add a servo and waste a channel on something that is used only one time on flying days!

Bob if you can't get it to the front do you have room to put a small 90 degree bellcrank behind the firewall and run a rod out the side for the choke?

Super08,

No doubt a bellcrank could be rigged up. However, I think a small bend in the choke rod and a little bracket made from a heavy duty servo arm or fashioned from ply bits will work.

The more I check out the engine the better it looks. Crankcase is nicely CNC'd billet and the cast cylinders are bead blasted quite well. 2 rings per piston. Mounting lugs substantial. No bearing play in the crankshaft and con rods feel snug. Super clean plug threads. Hall sensor plastic fitting is custom molded for the engine and the magnet is well embedded. Purpose-built so it doesn't have a lot of extra bolt studs and holes and such. Money well spent.

I could have it mounted in the Pitts by this afternoon, but unfortunately I must attend a funeral today. So I will finish it tomorrow.

Wow, I just finished reading all the posts.

Theses engines look to be a good value for the price. I am looking at getting the 62cc with a pitt muffler.
I did look on http://www.zrcgf.com/store/Results.cfm?category=8 and find nothing about muffler.

Can somebody give me an idea about what pitt muffler would fit on this engine ?

Thanks!

Daniel

Any muffler that fits a G-62 will fit. It has the same cylinder assembly.

I did received p.m. telling me that performance of RCGF 62cc is weaker than a 50cc of DL/DA , can someone confirm this ?

I have a hard time beliving that a engine with 25% more cc would have a lower performance.

I have been in search of a good gas motor for my giant SS , most guys seem to be overpowering them, i think. What I really hate is having to cut the hell out of my cowl to fit a 40 or 45 in it.
So my question is those of you that have flown the 26 size motor do you think it would be enough for my sportster, looking for sport aerobatic performance only.
plane finished is 12-14.5 Lbs. also on a budget, have considered the crrc 26 but I think the RCGF might have a little more power from what I have read in this post.

According to Super08 my 50cc twin is approaching the numbers his DL50 spins with a Xoar 22x8. That's with the stock muffler and about 16 oz of fuel through it. I would be very surprised if the 50cc single isn't stronger, at least a little bit. I have two 50cc 3w's and they spin the Xoar 22x10 about 6400, and neither of them is broken it yet. I will be quite happy if the new RCGF matches the 3W's, and Very Impressed if it spins the same prop faster. I have a G62 and I'll see what it does with the Xoar 22-10, but not till it warms up a bit here. In fact I'm going to run some same-prop comparisons between my 50cc singles and the twin, and maybe the G62 just for fun. It's too bad the 3w's and the RCGF have different prop bolt patterns. Remember that these engines are new to the modeling community and so I would be surprised if somebody were in a position to run a side by side comparison of the DL 50 and the RCGF 62. In fact I don't think I've seen a post from somebody who is running the 62cc. Also, the G62 is said to make it's power at higher RPM with a prop like a 20x6-10, so to be fair each engine should be matched to a prop that lets it perform in it's best operating range. I don't know what kind of prop the RCGF 62cc will like.
You can always wait and see what kind of numbers it puts out, once others start running it, or you can get one and tell us what it does. Based on what people are saying about all of the engines so far, I don't think you'd be disappointed.

Hey Daniboy

In regards to your question about the performance of the Aerovate 62cc vs 50cc DL or DA.

I also find that difficult to believe. Though I am the distributor of the RCGF Aerovate Engines, I can tell you that the Aerovate 45cc pulls the same or better than the DL or DA 50cc. These are not my words but those of other who have put these engines together on a flight line and run them.
The Aerovate 62cc..... is reported by the factory....to pull at 37 pounds of thrust. I do not have the figures handy for the DL or DA 50 thrust figures. (I believe that their thrust figures are about 25-28 pounds... but I am open to correction on this!! Please understand that I am in no way talking down the DL or DA line of engines. They are respected competitors to me.)

Best regards
Henry

Sam
Just so others know my rpms with the DL's are with a restrictive wrap around pitts though. One engine I was getting 6400~6500 and the other is around 6800 with the Xoar 22x8. I haven't run them with the factory muffler but my friend does on his. He gets around 7100 with a Xoar 22x8. Our field is at about 1500~1600' asl.

As for the RCGF 50cc twin I was very impressed by your numbers with the 22x8. They only advertise numbers with the 20" prop and I didn't think it would swing the 22" so well. Very nice motor.

edit: spelling
