[8D]I have a bunch of plans in stock for .90 size RC models so I just ordered one of these engines.
I am just finishing up with a plan built 140" Ugly Stick with a 3W-150 and it will be nice to work on something not so unwieldy for a while.

I got my JBA J15G about a week ago. Have about 45 minutes of break in time on a test stand @ 20:1 and a 13x8 prop.
Thought I'd mount it up in my TopFlite P-51 60 ARF. Here are some photos:

FOOPED,

I'm using the stock TopFlite mount. This engine fits the plane really good, the muffler hangs out about 3/4" and the cowl will have to be trimmed about 2mm at the intake for the carb. I'm going to finish the break in and final adjusting in the plane.

Can't wait to see how it handles in the air...

Should be some great zoom zoom AJ [8D]

brockettman ,

That little gassers looks cute as a button in that plane!

Two questions though;

Can the exhaust pipe be rotated around (anywhere you like), or is it stuck in one direction?

Will you have enough airflow over the cyl head (with cowl in place) to cool it?

The exhaust pipe is like a glow engine one it can be rotated anywhere you want.

They come sealed with a very strong anaerobic sealant. You must heat a lot, clean , and apply sealant again...

Hey regets ama - Have you tried a three blade prop? I am going to build a 108 inch PBY this winter and want to use two of the JBA J15G. However, a 12 inch prop is the lafgest that will clear the fuselage. I am thinking a 3-blade 12 X 7 or 8 might work. What do you think?

a1pcfixer,

I haven't tried to rotate the muffler. It is a two piece design, so I guess if you loosened up the back half you could rotate it.

As far as cooling, the carb blocks much of the air inlet, so I have been pondering a possible solution for more air flow over the engine.

And I'm sure I will have to rotate the muffler when I install it in my Aeroworks .46-.60 Edge 540T

someone wanted some photos of the jba in the ucando cowling, as attached.

not that i was in a hurry, but i tend to go toward function rather than form and i really believe in MORE cooling so i dont fuss too much with fancy cowl cutting.

i enjoy the xfc every year in muncie at the ama and you really get to see form and function, those guys/gals do a really nice clean job with thier airframes.

Would this be the sealant that's used on the muffler? http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...ket_makers.htm

I checked valley view site and they said the motor will be back in stock early september.

I'm kinda guessing with the question. I can't wait to get it strapped to my AW 46-60 Edge 540T.

They were on back order at the factory because of a vendor issue, it has been corrected and they are on the way to us now, should have them next week sometime.
