Default 01-19-08 RACE IN SC

OK GUYS: I HAVE TOSSED IT AROUND ABOUT THE RACE IN JANUARY. DON THINKS WE NEED TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING. THIS WILL BE A DIFFERENT CLUB AND DIFFERENT LOCATION. I THINK WE NEED TO MAKE SOME NEW RULES. FOOLED YOU. THE NEW RULES WILL BE ABOUT THE WEATHER.

LETS GO AHEAD AND SCHEDULE THE RACE. IF THE WEATHER LOOKS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BE BAD OR MISERABLY COLD, WE WILL CANCEL 2 DAYS PRIOR TO THE RACE. IF THE TEMP IS GOING TO BE BELOW 50 FOR THE HIGH, RAIN IS EXPECTED, OR HIGH WINDS, WE WILL HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO CALL IT OFF TILL ANOTHER ATTEMPT IN FEB.

ONE THING WE WILL NEED IS TO PRE-REGISTER. DON WILL BE SETTING UP THE WEB FOR THAT. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT COMING, GO AHEAD AND REGISTER. WE WILL HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO CONTACT EVERYONE IF IT IS CANCELLED.

AGAIN THIS WILL BE CLUB 40 AND 424. WE GOT A SLOW START AT THE FIRETOWER RACE AND NEED TO GET STARTED SOONER. IF WE DON'T HAVE MORE THAN 9 CLUB 40 GUYS, THEN WE NEED TO ADD Q-25 QUICKY.

SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOMED.

James,

We will have more for Club 40 this time. I should be able to race in Club 40 as I have figured out how the lap counters can manage the heat cards. I can teach someone how to input the heat results pretty quickly. Now that I have real race data, I can set up mock races for people to practice with without having to set up an entire race.

I designed a simplified database for races and the data needed for Paul Herman's program. Attached is a screen shot of the simplified database. Any computer guys out there that want to get the database an mess with it can. It is in Access 2000 format so most anybody with Office can play with it. I'm going to do a quick .NET web app this week.

I'd like to look at it. I'd like to see how the relationships with the passthroughs are working between the tables. Have you designed any queries yet or just defined the relationships?

I just designed the tables and defined the relationships.

It will be a real quick implementation. Something to use for this contest, and maybe others if I can make it generic enough and still get it done this week.

Check your Private Messages. Thanks.

Go to [link=http://www.rcpro.org/net/ThreadView.aspx?threadid=713]Pre-Registration Web App[/link] to grab the database file and keep up with my progress and/or collaborate with me.

Whatever Dave! [8D]
It was blowin and raining too. After my last heat and the race was called my fingers were nearly too numb to take my planes apart to load into the truck. It was pretty dang cold and I live in the mountains. The guys in SC don't know what frost is.

In SC we had our first hard frost of the year on Monday, this week. Today’s forecast mid-50’s, sunny and winds from the west at 6-8. A little cool for this time of year but good racing weather. Remember, most of us in SC moved from the North but we remember all about cold and snow.

James - I like your thinking about this Jan 19 race. It makes sense to plan the race, then call it off if the weather will be bad. I've marked Jan 19th on my calendar. We may have a few more join in the fun from our club, the Caldwell Aero Modelers (CAM). If it all works out they will join in with club-40 planes. Thanks again for organizing this . . . Seth

HELLO EVERYONE. IT SEEMS LIKE CLUB 40 IS ON THE GROW AGAIN. JUST GOT AN EMAIL FROM HODGES HOBBIES IN SOUTH GEORGIA. MAC IS GOING TO BE ADDING CLUB 40 TO HIS RACES. HIS NEXT RACE WILL BE ON THE 12 OF JAN. ONE WEEK BEFORE MY JAN. 19TH DATE.

MAC HAS A BEAUTIFUL RACE COURSE MADE ON HIS PRIVATE AIRSTRIP IN FRONT OF HIS HOBBY SHOP. HE ALSO USED THE 3 POLE, 2 MILE COURSE.

James;

Would you please refresh my memory as to exactly where this race is? Also, where is the pre-registration site you mentioned?

Thanks

www.gramsrc.com Honea Path is located 25 miles south of Greenville. The field is located at the Ashley airport, one mile east of town on hwy. 252.

Don was setting up the pre-registration site.

Have you got it ready yet Don?

The Pre-registration web site is now online at [link=http://www.stegallhobbies.com/contest/HoneaPath.aspx]Registration for Honea Path, SC Race on 1-19-2008[/link].

This is a temporary page, but it is tied into my new Contest Calendar database. If you register and your name doesn't show up, please email or PM me.

If you make a mistake, I should have the ability to edit sometime next week.

Your information is hidden from internet users, other than your name and location. However, the Contest Director can retrieve all of the information.

I made a mistake on a file permission and it was throwing an error. Please try again if you already did and it didn't work.

Hello race fans.

Bill, Tommy, and I met at the Honea Path club today for some practice. We had the final club meeting before the race. Everything is lined up. We just need good weather.

Hodges Hobbies is having a 424 race this coming Saturday. I just looked at the registration page and 14 are already pre-registered. Looks like it will be a good turn out.

Bill, John M, Tommy and I are trying to figure out how we can ride together to go to Mac's race. We will work something out.

Tommy and I flew the club racers together today. He had the low line and I took the high line. We did about 20 laps before landing. Once on the ground, Tommy looked at me and said, "THAT WAS FUN". It was fun. That's what racing is about, having fun.

A REMINDER THAT THE HONEA PATH RACE IS THIS COMING SATURDAY.

We raced at Hodges Hobbies yesterday. What a great day of weather we had. Blue skies, very little to no wind, 70 degrees and a lot of people racing.

Tommy Tomasson finished second in club 40 with a time of 1:55.56. His first ever club 40 race. Only 4 people flew below the 2 minute mark. Very close racing. Hopefully Mac will keep the club 40 in his races. Club 40 had 10 entries. Doug Bebensee and I had many close laps of racing. Doug is a quality pilot. Not that the other guys were not. Doug and I raced up close and personal without any problems.

After the race when they were giving out the awards, Doug finished 3rd in Club 40. During one of the heats, he mid-aired with a beginner cutting his tail off. Doug only broke his prop and landed. When Doug recieved his cash, he gave it back to Mac to give to the guy that crashed.

The 424 class had 22 entries. It seemed that every heat was fast and furious. Bill Johanson flew like he was on rails. A few times I thought if the paint was a little thicker on pylon 2, he would rub it off.

We picked up a couple of guys that said they would be coming to my race Saturday.

The extended weather outlook for saturday looks good. Let's hope it stays good.

If you want to race with us, look on this forum for the registration link. or contact me.

The momentum is going and growing. Let's keep it going.

Glad you guys had a great time in GA. I really hope the weather holds for Saturday. I just got back from the field test flying my club-40 and 424. I got a new radio and wanted to make sure everything is ready. Hope I see you all soon. - Seth
