RE: Areotech 42% Edge build
Where are the exhaust pipes? Don't see any in the pictures.
Where did your balance come in at Arthur?
I've been sweating the balance on mine, but I was able to remove 6.5 ounces out of the tail by leaving out some of the unnecessary would that was supplied in the kit. My preliminary balance 'looks to me' like it will be ok, but again I had to really be careful on that tail section.

Mark the lines with pencils on the surface........
(I put two lines and tried to stay inbetween as I knew I wouldn't cut exactly straight line, that way I could come back and sand to both lines on both peices to get a smooth surface)
Next place the surface in the styro chucks. This keeps the peiece flat. The run it through a band saw. Really easy once you know how to do it.
As for balance, I balanced mine on the tube and I had to add about 6.5oz of weight....I'm thinking of adding about 2-3oz more. I shooglued my weight on the bottom cowl piece right under the spinner on the inside.

Basically your going to measure out on the wing where you want the line to be (black). then figure in your beveled edge widths on both pieces (red lines) as long as you cut within the of the red lines you can sand back to the red line point....Then glue your edges on and they should meet at your black line point.
For sanding I use the Chucks again and I used a 12inch permagrit sanding block........Just make sure you sand level horizontal and vertical so that you don't put a angle on the surfaces.

Well guys thanks a lot for the kind words today I took her out to the 400 fun fly WITH NO INTENTION OF FLYING IT BUT gues what I could not wait any longer and everyone out their wanted to see her fly so up up and away and man it was awsome I did not do much with it but the way it was handeling it felt like a foamie light and precise and the landings were smoth as silk after some tweeking tonight and making a set of 2" arms for the elevators tommorow we are going to realy let her run
the balance point came out about 1 inch in front of the tube and still was a little nose heavy so I think right in front of the tube is the way to go

Hi guys today we went out to put this baby through some tests day 2 in the air was well so so the plane flew incredible herier pass was slow and steady it hovered like like it was hung from the ceiling the rudder needed little bit of coupling on Knife edge Herier rols no problem it was rock steady in most 3 D menuvers but it was slopy in IMAC menuvers it needs aileron defrential and some rudder coupling for most IMAC rols and snaps 4 pointers and specialy knife edge menuvers ...........................the air was so humid and hot the engine was I would say at 80% and on the second flight I had a dead stick this plane is so huge I could not judge how far away we were, my spoter told me to go around, and that was a big mistake so I just had to put her down in the corn it was so far out I should have gone with my instincts and just head for the runway but it just flew in to the corn with a lot of flair and after we spend almost half an hour looking for it it had no damage at all only striped the gears of the left elevator servo

Arthur,
Glad to hear you were able to land with no major damage. Your plane came out great. I had the same thing happen to me on the fourth flight on my 40 Lanier Edge. The engine quit just after take off ( the fuel pick up hose came off in the tank ) . I was able to land the plane in a cow pasture. The damage was limited to a bent landing gear and two elevator servos stripped. As happened to you I listen to to my spotters and landed too far out in the pasture. I did fly the plane the next day and has been flying perfectly ever since.
The best of luck with your new Edge . It sure is a beauty.

RE: Areotech 42% Edge build
Arthur, how was the vibration levels of the plane? I'm curious because of the extremely lightly built motor box. This is the first giant scale plane I've ever built with an all lite ply box. I would think it twist like a piece of rubber.
