Default Sig Cap 231 EX

Hi all. I just purchased a used Sig Cap 231 EX and I'm trying to decide on what kind of engine I want to strap onto it. I would really like to go for gas, but I'm afraid that the engine is going to be way too heavy for it. I really like the sound of gas engines as well as the cost factor. Any suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated. Also, just so you know, this is my first large plane (73" ws), so treat me like a dummy when discussing things about them.

Saito 1.80 was in mine too. Gas might be a bit heavy, but I'm sure it would work.

I flew one with a Zenoah G-23 on it. Great power for sport/aerpbatic flying. Not unlimited vertical, but a really nice flying capable plane.

Plus the G-23's were really cheap ($199), being closed out for the 226 to replace it.

Trust me on this one. The airplane is just a tad too small for gas.

You want either a Saito 150 or 180. I flew mine for years with the 150 and loved it, but if I were to do another one I'd go for the 180.

You've got a fabulous airplane. It is absolutely the best flying 1/4 scale aircraft in existence. Strap a Saito 180 on that baby and you'll be enjoying some of the best flying the RC hobby has to offer.
