RE: Rev-Up Props, Are They Still Around
I have some new never used fun fly sizes that I was thinking about selling.
Wonder if they're worth anything.
I'll have to get the sizes after work and post them...

I still have some old rev-ups. Does any one know how the Brodack Rev-Ups compare to the old ones performance wise? They don't even look like Rev-Ups.

RE: Rev-Up Props, Are They Still Around
Here are the sizes I have, and they are original Rev-Up props new and never mounted if anyone is interested before I list them in the marketplace.
I have to figure out pricing since I can't find any anywhere for reference.
(1) 12 x 4W Pro Series 3
(1) 15 x 7 THP 4 Cycle Series 100
(1) 16 x 4.5 Special Pro Series 2

I think I have a handful of 9x7 3/4 and 9x8's somewhere in the basement from my earlier pylon racing days.
Probably right next to the stash of 7/5N and 7x4.5 SMPP from Top Flite..
The larger diameter lower pitch props you've got would be great for something slow like my Dad's old Sig Senior Kadet. That 12/4 might work well on the ST.40 that's on it. Too bad I don't have a car big enough to haul that airplane in right now! Surely someone would be interested in those that you've got.

i have a copy of the Rev-Up props that work for me.....8x6,9x4,10x6, and 11x7.
they were indeed the best shaped blade ever. what i have to do now is buy Master Airscew wood props that are 1" bigger in diameter with those pitches and trim and reshape the tips to the diameter i want. RPM's and pull are exactly the same..................not for the faint of heart, but there's Gold in them thar MA props

The BY&O prop I tried from Brodak several years ago had blunt leading and trailing edges, and I mean practically flat, 1/8 inch thick. I did a lot of whittling on it to make it resemble a prop. That experience has made me shy away from Brodak props. Maybe they are better now, but they are not cheap. If anyone has tried them I'd be grateful to hear about your experience with them. My old stock Rev-Ups are good. I've sanded Zingers down and refinished to get similar performance.
I noticed Xoar props are available in a pretty good range of sizes now. That might be a better way to go.

Been there and done that about 40 yrs ago.
I spent a lot of time making my own wide blade C/L stunt props at the time from larger props

today we only have one alternative.
for Free Flight competition we made our own FG/CF props that were direct copies of the Rev-Up 8x4,10x4 and 12x4 as they could be repitched with heat.
i wish we would have done molds for the more popular sizes for RC back when i had the chance...........just never took sport flying that serious.

Rev-ups were made in Manhattan, Kansas. I'm not 100% sure of the name, it might have been Progress Manufacturing. A friend of mine used to work for the company. Maybe he'll chime in here.
From another thread where he did mention it:
Rev-Up's were first produced around 1948 or 1949 and were in production until the 1990's by Chris Machin and his wife at Progress Manufacturing.

RE: Rev-Up Props, Are They Still Around
I have boxes of rev-up pylon props both for QM and QM15.... Many modified, many not, many wasted hours.
I found a lot of new Rev-Ups at Happy Hobby in Milwaukee just a few years ago (2007), I bet they still have them, lots of old inventory in there I wish I had bought.

If you enjoyed it at the time, was it really wasted hours? I have boxes of TF 7x4.5 SMPP and 7-5N, and a very few Rev-up 7/5, and quite a few 9x7.75 and 9x8 rev-up pylon props, plus a couple of old carbon fiber QM15 props from the Nelson days. Yes, I'll probably never use them. Yes, it was fun. Wasted? perhaps - but it did provide some entertainment and stress relief from work at the time..
