How low have you got your idle? (only 2-stroke please)
Tell me what prop and fuel that you are using. I have a OS 40LA with an MA 11x7 prop and Omega 15% on my Superstar and we were playing around with it and we got it down to about.......well, lets just say that it was so low that it could go about 20 feet and you could BARELY hear it (and I had to spool up to get it to go on the asphalt in the front yard...tell me that ain't low)....hope to get a tach soon and really see how low I can get it........

This is a new one... how slow and little power can your engine produce? Ha.
Under 1000 RPM is not impossible, my DA100 will idle well under 1000, but why? As a general rule, I suggest that you do not set your idle to the lowest possible setting. Transistion is often poor and you greatly increase the chance of flameout in the air. All you need is a idle setting sufficiently low to prevent the plane from rolling. A lot of idle RPM has to do with rotational inertia, more prop inertia = lower possible idle. I.E., big heavy props will often let engines idle slower.
Oh, you wanted prop and fuel... fine. Prop is a Mejlek 28x10 and fuel is 92 octane premium, probably Amoco.

RE: How low have you got your idle? (only 2-stroke please)
I was thinking that a low idle wouldn't be that good.......actually, I got mine down to about 700 RPMs today.......it's not that we wanted it to go that low, but we just wanted to see HOW far it would go.......I mean if you can get the idle very low, then you know that the firing will be good because the idle is very low and you also know that if you up the idle a little bit, it will be even better..............
BTW, the one on the Superstar, like I said, is pretty low.....won't roll on asphalt, but I can't get the OS 46AX that low on the Somethin' Extra because it's only about 3 months old so that's why I can't get it that low......
I will bring everything back up [the idle], because I won't be flying off asphalt, but off grass and I don't have to have it that low......THANKS......"How low can ya go..........How low can ya go......??LOL

900 on a PAW .60 Diesel, 13.5x8 Graupner prop. I set the idle at 1,200 for the aforementioned better transition when flying.

I get 1800 to 1900 on my OS61SF-P with a APC 13x6N. That is my flying idle. I can get it to 1300 to 1400 before it dies but nedless to say, it is not reliable at this RPM. Fuel is Powermaster 15%, no glow ignition on.

Well, me and my dad really like to pittle with my planes...........I mean if we are bored one day......then we will find SOMETHING, ANYTHING to do to the planes......wether it's just cleaning them (again and again) or making them better so when we pittle, we try to get the idles a little better.....I usually up trim the throttle when I fly so it won't be so low and I won't have to worry about a flamout on landing or low throttle setting......I only need the throttle low enough not to move on the grass when flying.....
