Default OS 61 FX, super tigre 91 or TH 75?

What should be the perfct engine for hobbico extra 300S?
The super tigre is the powerfull one, the T.H. is the cheapest , but I think they can't beat
the reliabilty of the OS- that's why it has it's high price. What do you think?

I beg to differ!!!! You can't beat the power, reliability and user friendly characteristics of a Super Tiger. The ST would have the most power of the three engines you mentioned by far. You would be missing out if you elect to go with the "other" brands. Take care and hope you make the right choice. HEHEHEHEHEHE.

I am not familiar with the plane you mentioned but...

Generally I would prefer both the ST and Tower to the FX [X(]

Of the 3 you mentioned....Super Tiger would be numero uno, and then the Tower. I would not even consider the OS with all the other better quality motors out there, at much better prices.

Yeh, what he said. The 61fx is a fine engine and so is the G90 , I have both but it comes down to the right engine to do the job--a .60 or .90?

Rcav8torjc33, what about these reviews, especially the first one:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_gu...m?engine_id=65
and compare it to the OS 61 FX reviews:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_gu...m?engine_id=55

BoGo, I need a 61 engine, but the ST 90 is cheaper than the OS 61, and it has extra power, so the only question is the reliability.

I think you should ask local folks in your area what engine they use and why. I can tell you that OS has had problems with liner peeling. I have never had one do so, but many on this forum have experienced it. I guess the bottom line is to go with the engine you feel most comfortable with and follow the manufactor's procedures on proper break-in. Take care and hope I've helped you some.

I have both the ST .90 and the O.S. .61 FX and they are probably two of the best all around running engines that I own.

I don't think their is a big weight difference, and the ST is cheaper than the OS, so I would recommend the ST.

The ST will also give you a power advantage. A 13x6 or 14x4W will work great with the ST and give you everything you are looking for on your EXTRA.

Our local Hobby Store has the ST .90 for $139 all day long. Tough to beat.

Noam,

How about the MVVS .91?

It costs less than the OS in some places and makes more power and less noise, on much larger propellers.
The OS is a .61 and is much less powerful than both of the other engines.
In fact, in the .60 engine shootout, in MAN 05/03, Dave Gierke rated the .61FX as quite lacklustre, with a high price.

Do a search on the OS.91FX here. There were many threads started about problems with them; especially with fuel supply, bubbles, reliability and general behavior.

The ST is a much more sound machine, but the standard silencer tends to fall off, even when connected according to the instructions.

I second that. Have both as well.

A buddy of mine has the ST 90 on a KwikFy 60, swingin' an APC 11x9.....very impressive indeed! He went from a 12x8, and that motor seemed to wake up!
