Default chip in piston

I smacked my gp .42 in pretty good awhile back breaking the backplate so I put it up to wait on my order and today I decided to strip it down and clean it up a little and saw a little ding in one of the ports and a chip in the plating on the piston about a 16th of an inch wide. This was a little annoying, but I got to thinking about it, would it really cause any kind of problem?

Mathyoo,

Are you that sure you have got the names of the parts correctly?

Your engine is a ABN type, which means an Aluminium piston, running in a Brass sleeve, which has Nickel plating (actually coating).

The piston is made of high silicone content aluminium that has no plating on it.
The hard silicon crystals stand proud of the aluminium base material, protecting the piston from wear and tear.

If the sleeve has a flaw in the plating, it will not really last much longer.
See what you can do with the engine's warranty.

Im not too worried about the sleeve, and the piston just has a small chip on the side of it. Still not sure tho, im really j/w how much run time I have left on it.
