YS Service - Wow
On Monday August 15 I shipped a YS120 to the service center in Nevada from Delaware. I shipped it UPS Express so it should have arrived at it's destination no sooner than Wednesday August 17. I received a phone call tonight, Thursday August 18, from the YS service center telling me that the engine was repaired(new crankshaft, bearings and ring) and that all they needed was a credit card and it would be shipped out the next day - Friday, August 19.
This is service. THe engine is the best and the service is better than that. I think that the extra money that you might spend on a YS engine is money well spent in both the original product and the service center that stands behind the product.
Way to go YS!!

RE: YS Service - Wow
I need some advise from a ys man. I have a 120 that will start and run but will die within no time. If I draw the fuel out of my tank with my flight box pump from my inline tee I am seeing air bubbles. (line between tank pickup and the fuel regulator). The bubbles go away if I pinch the line at the regulator so that seems to cross off any of the plumbing being the problem. I dont know if this is causing the dying problem or not. If I can get it to run long enough to rev it up it will backfire. This is my first ys motor and no one at my club seems to have any experience with them. I am Mr. cheapie and hate to have to send it in for service if it is something that I can fix myself.
Thanks
Jeff

I am using the os f plug and wildcat 15%. I took apart the regulator last night and cleaned it up. Couldnt see anything wrong, but I will try and run it today.

When you put the regulator back, make sure you put it back in the correct orientation. Otherwise, the engine will run erratically. If the engine dies in a short amount of time, then either your low end or your midrange is way too lean (something is restricting fuel flow to the carb). Richen the low end by turning the idle screw "clockwise" and not "counter clockwise" like most other engines.

Thanks for the input. I had a major bone head moment. When I plumbed up the tank in my plane(aeroworks edge) I had the lines reversed at the fuel pump. Man this is a sweet sounding motor. Likes that fuel though. My largest motor before this one is a 70 size surpass which didnt seem to use alot of fuel. Is it pretty common for the carbs to leak for awhile after shut down? Mine dripped for awhile and then I relieved the pressure off the system.
Thanks

Yes....there is quite a bit of pressure in the line....you should release it after
each flight, or the carb will drip. Also, you don't need to richen the YS way
up for flight like most non-pumped engines. Open the needle until you hear
the engine running on the "rich side of full RPM" , not with a big drop in RPM.
That maybe where all your mileage (so to speak) is going. It will not lean out
in the up-lines, or when the tank starts to get low, like some engines.
Man, you're gonna love that engine. [sm=thumbup.gif]
