Pete, one beauty of the full synthetic is that two shots of Windex and two paper towel swipes gets the plane fairly clean.
Jim, you be real careful with that 1.15, an engine with 100 hp might upset your stand
PS, I mentioned that the 120 R-3 gained 001" on the rocker arm lash when hot, when cooled it went back to my 1st setting.

Jim this is an edge540v3 with an fg57 fitted.I posted a pic of it a while ago with genuine scale pidgeon poo all over the top cowl, accidently locked one of the next door neighbours pidgeons in the shed overnight.Behind that on the left is a h9taylorcraft with a saito fa182td flat twin,in the last half of the flight it will go vertical and looks graceful doing aerobatics.
Mike do you have a complete pic of that yellow plane to share? nice install.
Jim what size prop are you going to run the fa115 on? and don't forget pard...having heli two strokes and accessories any where near saito's is bad juju

I promos, there won't be Heli parts near this engine !! but I do still have 3 gallons of 30% Heli fuel, no-no that will be used in my smaller P-40 with the OS 50 Hyper Heli engine,,,
BTW,, Dave, I found-out that the OS 50SX uses the same Piston and Liner as the 50 Hyper engine, yet the Hyper has a larger Carb and of course it has the larger heat sink head.. as for braking in the 1.15, I will make sure I don't stand in front of it or beside it, I once had a 3W 20X8 bite my finger, 7 stitches and I felt lucky, I won't let that happen again !
Jim
be careful, she'll bite, props don't care about you, or me, I learned that

Bought the first hanger nine taylorcraft available here some years back.Far as i know they stopped production a long time back or maybe they just supplied them as a rtf package with a two stroke gas engine (yew) not sure.Do you have one?
Dave i'll always have to have 3% castor in my fuel.
Jim since we are both talking about the same engine (fa115) you know i run mine in a 55"ws midget mustang which is recommended for a 60 two stroke. It flies at scale speeds and then some with a mas 15x8,it's a low wing tail dragger with no prop clearance issues, you would have to tip the nose over quite far for a prop strike which i did on the test flight by throttling up to soon on the take off run.Prop was a mas 15x8 which got a half inch ground off the white tips on take off but still flew well.So you should do well with up to a 15" prop on your larger plane.I've also flown the midget with an apc 14x10 and a mas s2 14x10,both pattern style props. It went like a bat the boys could'nt believe it.If your plane is slippery you should get a sonic boom off the prop tips of the mas 15x8 in a moderate dive.

That's quite a rig, I wonder what brand that truck used to be. If I ever have a problem running without castor I'll sound off loud and clear, saying, Y'all were right, but so far even the OS LA's thrive on it. And, whispering, my Fox .25.
PS, I sent the money to New Zealand Aero Products for the Pawnee plans, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Here you go. In this picture its on display at a Civil Air Patrol meeting (No. 3 son is an adult leader and former cadet) when I gave a talk. Some moron forgot the wing bolts and screws for the cowling at home. (You can finger which numbskull did that) I laid out a few partial projects, kits every engine prop, field box, and old magazine I had. I spoke for 15 minutes and then let the kids play with everything. Nothing was damaged or loss in their handling. Great bunch of kids. The magazines went home with the kids. The presented me a CAP challenge coin with their unit on the back as a thank you. Totally worth it!

Make that a plus 1 on the 3% castor! It pays off well over the long haul.
That pick up looks a lot like a 40ish Chevrolet or GMC.

Mike you must have given a riveting presentation...not a mobile phone in sight, thats a real rarity nowadays.
Gary can you post a pic of the ikon taylorcraft? it sounds nice what engine will you fit to it,and have you heard from jim yet? he's been real quiet since he got your fa115 and just remember you sent it to him and no one else is to blame ok?

OKC, Nice Cub and a great story.
Now that I see that truck on the BIG screen, it looks more like a 1939 Dodge, pretty sure that is what it be.
Rotation issues would be a small detail with that installation!
For some axles, simply flipping the axle end for end is but one solution. (Puts the ring gear on the opposite side.
Here is a pic of the Ikon N'West Taylorcraft. Will be powered by the Saito 130TD or perhaps the 100TD.

It's an aircraft themed 39 plymouth pick up built by gary corns and uses a fifties c195 cessna radial, pretty neat and sounds awesome. If you google 'radial powered truck' the video comes up straightaway. Then maybe you or gary could say how the driveline is layed out, auto or manual?
Thanks for the ikon taylorcraft pic gary i had'nt seen one before and the 1.00td or 1.30td should fly it well. Here's a couple of pics of a h9 taylorcraft similar to mine and a hint as to where your new saito fa182td might end up? that engine flys them very well.
Yep That's the one! Pretty airplane and you just put me over the edge gonna buy it! The Saito 182 TD Of course will be the engine.
Okay, missed the hood ornament on the pickup till you said Plymouth That is a dead giveaway. Like GMC/Chevrolet, Plymouth and Dodge pickups back then were look alikes. The Plymouths back then however had the good ornaments with a Mayflower ship image.
Hoping to soon see a pic of Jim's spanking new Saito 115 in a new plane.

Saito 2.20 on a Hanger 9 Ultra Stick
Does anyone have experience with a Saito 2.20 on a Hanger 9 Ultra Stick 30cc? My big Saito needs a home and I'm considering this plane. If you have experience with this combo, please let me know how it went.

I have experience with the 2.20 but not the plane, it should be a great combination.
The 2.20 with an 18 x 8, 20 x 6 or 18 x 6 three blade would be about perfect.

Looks like that H9 Taylorcraft will be following me home. As if that isn't enough, an old flying buddy of 40 years is hanging up his sticks. Just dropped a new Great Planes 120 size fiberglass Super Chipmunk on me. Comes with a new Saito 200 in-line twin.
Too hard to pass up.
I was talking to a fellow at work who has seen that truck. He said it has a GM Turbo Hydro 400 trans (as used by Rolls Royce at one time) and a Franklin Quick Change rear end. The Franklin could be flipped end for end to accommodate reversed input but the TH400 would not like to be spun bass ackwards. Most likely, in the event of a reversed engine, the may simply place a reversing box ahead of the torque convertor (???)

Pete, thanks for the concern my friend, we had family come yesterday, my son and daughter in-law, and then my self appointed sister, they left late last night, we had good times, so I got on line last night for only about an hour, then went and watched Live PD with the wife..
for some bad OS info> according to the numbers I found my OS .61FX weighs .11 of an OZ more than the Saito 115 (both engines with mufflers), (OS 61FX: 23.60oz w/muffler) ( Saito 115: 23.49 oz w/muffler) wow the OS 61FX is actually heavier.. I don't know>, maybe OS made it heavy so it would be less likely to brake when it hits the ground LOL, and it hit the ground a lot and never broke !!, it was my first plane engine, and it may be the last OS plane engine I will buy,, those weights make me excited about getting the Mustang together !! I can hear it now, zooming by

Gary, I will try to get a photo of the 115 tomorrow, but it won't be in the plane, the P-40 with the OS 50 should be ready to fly this weekend, so I will get to work on the Mustang next Monday
thanks !!!!
Jim
thanks !!!!

You won't regret buying the h9 taylorcraft, very predictable and just as nice inverted at slow speeds.I like the super chipmunk but the original chippie looks more graceful to me,and fancy having a saito 200ti for it,your blessed.Ive also flown a taylorcraft with a saito fa125 fitted, which flies it scale re loops etc,the fa182td obviously does a lot better than that.No tail weights needed.
