TT GP-42 - Great Service from Ace Hobby
I ordered a new Thunder Tiger GP-42 from Tower Hobbies back in June for a flying buddy's new Tower Trainer 40 MkII ARF. I have a couple of GP-42 engines myself, and I enjoy the strong power output and ease of tuning. This particular one, however, seemed very difficult to tune; on close inspection it appeared that the cylinder head gasket had failed.
I sent it back to Ace Hobby in California, a four day trip via UPS Ground, from beautiful Omaha, NE. Two weeks to the day and UPS dropped off the GP-42 fully repaired with a new cylinder head gasket and a new piston and sleeve. It was good, competent repair work and it was a speedy turnaround. Thank you, Ace Hobby!

RE: TT GP-42 - Great Service from Ace Hobby
I thought about selling my GP42 to help fund another four stroker but I changed the o-ring on the high speed needle and the last time I flew it it ran better than it ever has before. Now I have to keep it since it runs so well. Anybody have the max rpm reading using a 10x6 prop? I opened the exhaust port on mine a long time ago but never measured the before modification rpm. I would like to know if I made any improvements or not. Thanks in advance.
