RE: which shocks?
the piggies are much more expensive than normal alu so if you dont want to go with the stock go with hpi hb. remember with the alu shocks you can run with a thicker oil 30-35wt

RE: which shocks?
I would not recommend the Integy MSR5s.
Some (if not all) have a problem with the chrome flaking off the shafts and particulates damaging the cylinders. I ran for <2 hours (about 8 tanks) in a grass field and parking lot on new MSR5s and had 8 bad shafts, and particulates scratching up the inside on 4 cylinders.
Integy was great in admitting they have a problem with the shafts and sent out replacements right away. They said they now use a different process on their shafts to make them harder. If they know they have an issue and that bad shocks are being sold that will destroy themselves after installation and light use then why don't they post something on their website about the issue?
BUT
Integy is now ignoring my emails [:@] about replacing the damaged cylinders. I've emailed 3 times over a period of a week and have had no response. I even sent in photos of the damage. What started as great customer service by a quick response to my initial emails and sending out the replacement shafts has now turned into great customer dis-service by now ignoring all my emails requesting them what (if anything) are they going to do about the damaged cylinders.
Based on my experience so far with Integy they look great but THEY SUCK in quality and customer service.[:'(]
I've attached a few photos I sent into Integy showing the issue.

The chrome coming off the shafts was news to the RC shop I frequent here. They don't carry Integy shocks because of the issues they've heard of with the MSR4s. Evidently the MSR4s had smaller diameter shafts and were very ductile (bent easily). After hearing from several people who bought the MSR4s and had bent shafts after non-agressive driving they decided to not carry them until the problems were fixed. The MSR5s may have fixed the bending problems with a larger diameter shaft (a later release of the MSR4 also had a larger diameter shaft at 3.5mm) but they have introduced a new issue which is bad manufacturing.
I can understand a manufacturer making a mistake and realeasing something with a problem. If this happens though a company should fess up to the issue; perhaps post it on their website or do a recall. They should stand behind their products and correct the issues that poor manufacturing or poor quality control caused.
As a side note, I also ordered a spare set of shafts from Integy and I'm sending both of them back. They are supposed to be brand new but have scratches and dings in them which could cause pre-mature seal failure. 7 or the 8 replacement shafts they sent me were good but 1 had a ding in it which is bad enough to cause me concern.
I waited 2 weeks for them to address my issues and they have been unresponsive. My only recourse at this point is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and to share my experience with others.

RE: which shocks?
I have Integy MSR4 and MSR5, they are the best piggyback shocks period! I have the MSR4 on my T-Maxx and I just got their MSR5 on my Savage. They have 3.5mm shafts on their MSR5 not but the 3mm ones on my MSR4 has no problem. The MSR4 was out for a while (at least a year), I've e-mail Integy about the MSR5 before I made the purchase and the only difference is in the heatsink and stronger hardwares.
