i stripped a bolt, any ideas?
so i stripped a bolt in the diff housing. i figure, since i stripped the bevel gear, might as well convert the diff housing to alum. But i have a difficulty unscrewing one of the bolts that hold the housing together. So i cant open it.
any ideas on how to open this little SOB.
thanks for you input

RE: i stripped a bolt, any ideas?
Are you talking about one of the 4 phillips screw that holds the ring gear on the gear carrier if so take a Dremmel toll and grind the head where you can get the gear off, once removed you should be able to grap it with pliers and remove the rest of the screw.then just replace the screw

RE: i stripped a bolt, any ideas?
got a drill?
Set of "easy outs"?
Is the head completly rounded? If not, try to tire glue the head of the screw driver in it ..or try using a bigger screwdriver.
If you have easy outs drill a small hole in the head of the bad bolt, and use the easy out to remove it.
A worthy investment for rc repairs.
heres 1 with the drill bits included.

RE: i stripped a bolt, any ideas?
The easiest way to get a stripped bolt off is to grind a slot in the top with a dremell so its like a flat-blade screw, then just screw it out. Works every time. Works a treat with stripped phillips head screws too.
