I've had to replace my 4.6SS with the dual disc steel set twice and they don't seem to last very long for me. I even had the disc's warp on me which caused a pulsating pedal feel. My last set about 8 weeks ago were the fiber disc set and I have had great luck with them, if anything, I have had to back off the brake adjustment because they were grabbing so hard.

is it normal for the disks to wobble a bit if moved by hand. i dont see a screw to tighten them in place. i know that they are supposed to spin freely, but mine have this movement that they didnt have when they were new. they move parrallel with the tvps

Ok. I know they have to have the wobble. But the point is just one, which of them is a better and durable choice? I've also noticed that the steel discs are a little rigid in their movement compared to the fibre discs. ANyone else with that opinion? I've been using the fibre ones on the stock X rtr but i am yet to start the Xss. I also have a spare set of the fibre ones. SO before I pull on that starting chord, I need to know which brakes I should have on that new truck. Should I leave the steel ones on or shoudl I replace them with the fibre ones. People, help me make the desicion. The weekend is around the corner.

Ya but the pads on the SS brakes tear. Just glue the edges of the fiber ones with CA glue and they're fine. I've actually had better luck with the single fiber than the dual SS[:'(]
Reasons not to get dual SS brakes:
1. Noisy and can get hung up.
2. Brake pads tear easily and wear out quickly.
3. No progressive braking, either no brake power or locking brake power. They are difficult to set so that the truck doesn't flip over when the brake is fully applied
I like how with the single fiber disk, the braking is progressive, and matched with a strong T/B servo, it has plenty of stopping power.
