Hi Sam, yes please post a photo of your usb interface cable and adapter cable you're using with your radio. Did the usb interface work before, and with which radio? What error message are you getting in AFPD?

Finally got around to getting the pic of the cable assy for you.
This is the secound cable since i bought AeroFly Pro some years back. I think the ver is 1.8.0.9 on the disk.
I haved since bought the addon disk #1 and sevral others with no problems. My son and i use it with Jr radios
with no problems but until recent. The same thing as my previous cable is that it will reconize the cable but not
the transmitter. I bought another full version of APdlx with the same cable and it works fine on the same install
of versions w/upgrades. That is how i figured it is indeed the cable.
I am wondering if i can use another usb adapter cable from say easyfly or one of the ones offered on ebay for the actual
cable interlink and leave the original plugged in so the program will reconize it????? That way i can take the use factor
out of the plugging in and out of actual cable and use another that might be easier to replace. Any suggestions on that one?
THanks for your support and im looking forward to getting the upgrade to AF5 soon.

Hi Sam, thanks for the pic. It could be a electrical continuity problem between the usb interface cable and the adapter cable. Do you have a multimeter? Can you do some simple soldering?

Unscrew all the black rubber boots of the connectors (one at the end of the usb cable, and both ends of the adapter cable) and check visually first for any broken or shorted solder joints.

Check the lug and post in the plug at the end of the usb cable (refer to attached pic) and add some solder between the lug and post if there is no solder.

Then connect the adapter cable to the usb cable and using your multimeter, test for continuity between the ground and signal (bare and white wire respectively) in the usb cable plug, and the ground and signal (barrel and tip of the plug respectively) of the plug at the end of the adapter cable. If the continuity is OK, connect up your radio and try running AFPD again. Let me know what happens.

here is what i found.
The short adapter checks good, no short.
The round plug to the cb check good for continuity and no shorts.
I checked with the cb exposed and the four wires to the usb connector for continuity and found
the white wire bad.
There is no continuity from the round plug to the USB since it goes through
the cb and probably requires power from the usb port.
I have checked this in comparison to the cable that does work.

I could get a usb cable and replace that end by splicing instead of trying to attach to the cb
so as to prevent possible shorts on somehitng so small. i would have to make sure the break
is in the section that is removed and not nearest the cb

Hi sam, good job on the analysis. If it is an internal circuit board issue, then just contact Hobbico to arrange for a replacement usb cable. If you have any problems, let me know.

well i got home after vacation and went to check the cable again. I found GOOD continuity on ALL wires this time from either end to the cb connections. I have not attempted to replace the cable as i indicated once this was found to be. As of now the short adapter cable checks good with another known good cable.
The non working cable is reconized by aerofly but it doesnt detect a transmitter when i plug it in. This brings the question that can i use another usb cable that connects to the computer like the cables sold on EBay????????. If the software can still reconize the original cable it should still last a long time if i can use another sim cable.

I am seeking some assistance.  I formerly had AFPD version 4.x for Windows.  I have upgraded to Aerofly 5 for Mac.  I have the black dongle and want to connect to either the Graupner MX22 (preferred) or the Spektrum DX7.  My problem is that I have lost the black cable that connects the black USB dongle to the JR Y-cable adapter.  From the illustrations I can see that this cable has a 2.5mm mono plug at one end and a 3.5mm stereo plug at the other.  I made up a new cable with a 2.5mm mono plug at one end and a 3.5 mm mono plug at the other.  I connected the 2.5mm plug to the 2.5mm round socket on the black dongle and plugged the other end directly into the DX7 DSC port.  Aerofly 5 can see the USB port and the OSX utility indicates that the Ikarus dongle can be seen as follows:<div>
