Question Need info on Spektrum dx7 info... Rx? Version?

I just bought a Spektrum dx7 and this is my my first 2.4ghz transmitter. I have no receivers as I'm coming out of the 72fm band. I haven't the slightest clue if this is dsm2.... I fact what is dsm2? The dx7 is used so I'm not exactly sure if it has been a updated or needs an update or if there even is an update. Also, I've been looking at rx on hobby king and they have some that are pretty cheap! Do they have brands that are universal? If anyone could help me out by letting me know of a good cheap reliable rx for this transmitter.
Thanks yall!!

The DX7 will bind with any DSM2 or DSMX Spektrum or JR receiver.

As you see, there's a few clones out there and it may or should work with any that are marked as compatible with either of the above.

DX7 came in DSM2 though it could be upgraded to DSMX but it should have a logo on it either way. As for "needing to be upgraded", if you're not flying at Nall or IRCHA I wouldn't sweat it.

www.spektrumrc.com has a section that explains the technology if you're interested in the details

Ok that's is very helpful! Thanks for the info.
Reason for switching to 2.4ghz is because I got interference with QQ 85" Yak54 and bombed it in the ground..... Too much penny into an airplane to have it go down bc of interference on 72 band

If I might make a suggestion, if you're messing with big gas planes I'd get a DX9

Mating multi servo surfaces is a magnitude easier and there's just so many new features in that radio that you'll appreciate if you're into the big stuff.
