So far it looks like there are three very serious problems with the LST. These problems have been identified by enough new owners to prove that they are indeed a defect in either design, or manufacture. Let's use this thread to keep track of how these problems are resolved, when they're resolved.
Serious problems.
1, CVD's and, or axles break easily.
2, The plastic wheel hexes are easily destroyed.
3, Clutch springs break quickly.
4, Front diff. case cracks quickly.
If any other issues come to be shared problems with the truck I'll add them to the thread.

well i agree on the axles, but i havent heard enough people complain about the other two to make it a "design" flaw... i mean if two people make it the general consensus then you should add the engine on your list..

Perhaps it's premature to call the diff. case issue a shared problem, but ThermalRD has broken two and claims to know of others. There was another in that thread who said his was broken as well. I hope it doesn't turnout to be an issue, but it's looking possible for sure!
As for the Dynamite .26, too many Savage owners have been running that engine with great success for me to ever believe there is a shared problem with it. But I understand the point you were making.

Can I add "clutch springs" to that list? ![Wink](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I don't think those plastic wheel hex's are a problem though I have snapped a few pins behind them. Losi sent me a package of many replacements!![Smile](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The clutch springs seem to be a big concern with everyone's trucks as well as the axles. So far I've only experienced the former, luckily. I took my diffs out last night for inspection and found nothing. I wouldn't mark those off as defects on a global sense yet, it could just be an unlucky break for thermal.
I don't know where to start with the engine, it's a funny thing that Mach 26. I'm still not sure what to think of it, other than it's much slower on my truck than what I've seen in a few videos.

My problems have been,
2 black axles, 3 silver axles
3 broken clutch springs
1 shock shaft
I just got off the phone with Bill from Losi, he is sending me 1 left and 1 right whole drive shaft that are suppossed to be stronger he said hopefully. He is also sending springs even though I told him it wasnt a big deal. I didnt even tell him about the shock shaft, as I excpected to break more when it broke and my LHS had them. Bill is a super nice guy and I sure am happy with my purchase.

Interesting I havent had any of those problems????
The things that have broken are the following:
- engine mount screw head
- tranny Output Shaft snapped in half
- shock shaft snapped
Axles, cvds, clutch springs, and diffs all holding up strong.
So far so good

he sent me 1 complete cvd to replace the one that was broken at the out drive of the diff (this is th eone that broke in under 1 tank yesterday).. 1/2 the pin was broke off.. 2 weeks later i got 2 more complete CVDs..

A dumb question but are you getting his contact information from the Losi website? or are you going through Horizon's Service for this?
I an my LHS are fresh out of silver CVds and I figured I'd contact Losi for repalcement.
THanks!

Being the victim of a broken axle and a stripped wheel nut, I'd say both are valid. ![Smile](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
You might consider adding the roto starter to the list. I've read (and experienced) of several cases where the inner plastic gear stripped away. Losi replaced mine, which is nice because even though that thing is big, it's still smaller than my cordless drill!

I have had the following:
Clutch Springs
Starter plastic gear
Engine locked up from shredded thin washer inside
Tires needed reglued
Broken pin on CVD
Inability to win my first race
The last one is probably not a flaw though! lol

I've got about 15-16 tanks through mine now with the following problems:
- 2 broken clutch springs ( at about the 8th tank)
- 2 broken (rear) pins
Other than that everything is holding up pretty well.

My roto starter also died. Motor revs but doesnt' turn the hex starter. I'm assuming it's a stripped gear. Will take it back to my LHS to see about a replacement. Don't want to be without it while I'm waiting for a new one though.[:'(]

6 axles (5 silver, 1 black; all in the same place)
4 CVDs (3 broken, one bent; all in the same place)
15 clutch springs (was 12 but that was 4 tanks ago)
6 tie rods (the take a beating when the axle breaks and the hub augers into the dirt)
1 spur gear (maybe a rock got in there?)
Numerous cvd pins bent, broken, or missing

I got a new one for the list.
The screw that hold the plastic retainer and the o-ring on the fuel tank lid fell into the tank along with the o-ring while I was driving the truck on the track.
Also
- two cvd pins
- two slipper nuts
- one clultch spring
- truck came without the metal band that allows the gear selector to function.

i hope my lst is a better story then these. it will be my first 1/8 MT, i have owned a t-maxx before this, pre-2.5.
my LHS said its the toughest thing built and they also recommended the MGT before this, then they started talkin about this and i decided to buy this, now only if it was AT the store when i paid for it.

I'm buying a LST the next time my LHS has one in. What surprises me most about this thread is that none of you guys that have broken stuff have mentioned how you broke it. It doesn't do much good to know that you've stripped 4 hexes if you don't also note that your locknuts were loose and that you were jumping off of bridges. Please provide a point of reference with your gripes.
Thanks,
Matt

I've been around...
Glad I could entertain you... I'm here every weekend....
I'm serious, are you guys breaking this stuff racing, bashing, jumping, or what?
The only guy I've met that has a LST can't do anything but rave about it, so I'm curious as to how you're breaking this stuff.
I could post in a thread that I broke an axle on one of my trucks. But without knowing that I broke the axle when I dropped the truck down a flight of concrete stairs it woudn't really provide a good point of reference, understand?
