Default Brand New OS 46AX Grinding

Hi!
I took a brand new 46AX out of the box and mounted it to my Ultra Stick. When I tightened the prop, I heard a pop. I figured that it was just the front bearing seating or something.
I was able to turn the engine over with my fingers (without the Glow Plug). Put the glow in, fueled it up and started it. It ran for about 30 seconds and quit.

I tried to start it again and noticed severe resistance. Took the glow plut out and cannot turn it over by hand any more. I do notice severe internal grinding.

Not sure what happened here but was wondering if this is a case of over tightening the prop?

Thanks in advance!

Looks Like you've jiggered it. Take it to bits and check the piston and bore, if they are still ok, you got lucky. You might have just damaged the front bearing. You won't know for sure untill it's apart. Good luck..

Tightening the propeller, no matter how tight, should not hurt the internals. At worst, you'd damage the prop nut or the threads on the crank. The engine will have to be torn down to see what might be damaged. It should not be difficult to turn over, except for the tightness at the top of the piston's stroke, which is caused by the taper in the cyinder liner.
