Default OS 61 RFP vs Hanno Special

Please enlighten me about the difference between these two engines. Also, if I am not mistaken, there were two versions of the Hanno. I would also like to know the difference between those.

Thanks,

Lem

Default OS 61 RFP vs Hanno Special

The O.S. Max .61 RF-P engine was basically ported to run in the mid- to high-11,000's with a tuned pipe. The Hanno was ported to run in the mid-9,000's with a 12x12 APC prop and tuned pipe. The Hanno was designed specifically for F3A pattern in the early to mid-1990's.

The Hanno II had a slightly-different pump and a red cylinder head.

Default Bearing differences too!

It might also be worth mentioning that the Hanno Special has a very expensive, and probably almost impossible to replace:-(, stainless steel main bearing-which the RF-P does not have.

Default Hanno Sleeve

Is it possible to replace the 61 RF-p sleeve with a Hanno sleeve and get mid 9000 rpms on an APC 12 x 12? I mean with a new, never started engine.

Thanks, Lem

While it's likely the Hanno piston/cylinder assembly will fit into the case, it won't work out correctly. The Hanno has a different crankshaft, carburetor, cylinder head, and so forth. They all combine to make the engine run the way it does.
